Mud Flap Installation for 2009 Ranger
Mud Flap Installation for 2009 Ranger
Hi,
I have mud flaps 2009 Ranger, but I was told that I would need to create a custom bracket on my own. I wasn't sure if anyone on the forum has done this or has found brackets that could work for my year. I would like to install them before the winter.
Thank you,
Kirsten Anderson

Hard to fab up correct brackets.
If you google up "2009 Ford Ranger rear mudflap/splash guard install kit" you will find several companies that sell the correct Ford brackets.
You will need a right and a left bracket as they are different part #
Ford part # are 6L5Z16L554CA and
6L5Z16L555CA
Easiest way to mount them correctly.
It will also provide diagrams of what and how they attach to truck.
Front guards do not require any brackets...they attach directly to the truck.

Not sure what you mean by "pencil bracket" on the front. The OE Ford mud flaps fit years from 1998 to 2011, front and rear.
On my 2009 there was, originally, on the front, a small black plastic filler trim piece that must be removed for the new mud flap to install. Its only held on by a push pin. The hole left is one of the mounting holes for the new mud flap.
If you could post a picture or two of the front area where the mud flap will install it would help...also a picture of the pencil bracket your referring too.
Also, if your truck has the factory flairs over the wheel arches, the mud flaps will not fit.

https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...e-f87z16265bab As I checked this morning , it is showing discontinued , but I did use these on my front flaps .
Maybe a 4x4 thing . I did have to remove the plastic piece you referred to though .
In the parts diagram, part #8 is the plastic piece I had to remove so the mud flap would attach correctly.
I have no idea what the bracket is for...my 2009 did not have or require one. The mud flaps...front...just attached using the push type pins and lined up correctly with holes that were already in the fender well and the hole from the removed plastic piece..
