anyone else experience violent jerking after airbox mod?

as soon as i did the airbox mod i noticed that at idle my truck will jerk pretty hard, actually moving the whole truck. Anyone else have this happen, or know what it might be?

since its winter and the air is already cold, the intake could be sucking too much already cold air in, and throwing off the sensors....i undid my airbox mod for winter, to get better mpg's....

also, the 4.0's idle is kinda bumpy anyway...it may just be enhancing it...

Does the air box mod kill your mpg? I didn't really notice...

Try putting the air silencer back in and see if it still does it.

i had Zoom from GE and n3els i believe explain to me how u'd get better mpg with thte stock intake.....

i think it'd be hard to put the silencer in if the box is chopped up

You get better MPG if you limit your top end air flow. By definition, you won't be able to generate as much HP. Throttle limiting or air baffles can increase your apparent MPG (depending on how you drive) at the expense of power.

The "kicking" at idle is usually more pronounced on 3.0's then 4.0's. However, there are many reports of aftermarket air intakes creating problems on 4.0's when the air flow changes. Perhaps this is like that.

I would clean your MAF using electronic cleaner or carb cleaner. Do NOT use an electronic cleaner with lubricating properties! It's possible when you were doing the work that something got in there.
