Got my ranger!!! :-)
Finally got one!
It's an 01' XLT Ranger. Very happy that it's a 4 banger honestly.. this was going to be my DD but I really really like it. For the engine size it moves quick quickly! Very surprized.
Found it on craigslist from a really nice guy. He wanted $4k for it, and I got him down to 3k. It's only got 115k miles on it, and the interior is in very good condition. Paint is very good with minimal scratches that I can probably buff out once I detail it. Only thing I really want to do now if fix the hood because it's bent a little, and fix the grill... Other than that it rides very smoothly, and nothing crazy. Shifts are very smooth as well.
I did take a couple pictures but have a question as well. One of the wheels doesn't match... See pics: What can I do to fix this? Are they actual hub caps or is this going to be expensive to get another matching wheel? Is that the spare that it's on now?
Also I want to add fog lights... I've taken a picture of the opening/impression, but can't seem to locate the shape of these... Which fogs would I need? I don't think round would work in this case... I would prefer to get OEM.
You can see the hood damage along with the lower part of the grill and the newly replaced headlight... I am going to try and sand and polish the passenger headlight to see if I can get it not soo dull.... Probably end up picking up a new grill but really want to fix the hood... Though as a DD I could honestly leave it as is, but the hood really bothers me...
Here you can see the mismatched wheel:
Would love to get this one changed to the stock looking wheels...
Happy to be part of the crew!
Thanks,
-Nigel

kinda looks like it would be a spare but it looks to be aluminum. mine was steel and so have the other one's ive seen. could be from something else. you wont be able to get fog lights for that bumper, you'll have to get a different bumper and valance to get oem fogs. looks clean other than that. i also noticed the crank for the passenger side window is missing.

Is there a good place to also get another OEM wheel?
Fixing the window crank as we speak... lol seems to have fallen off..lol
Thanks!

Welp, I was really wanting to get fog lights for some reason..lol
Think as far as engine and suspension/wheel size, going to keep it as stock as possible since it's my DD now.
I am going to change the color in the cluster to LEDS since half of them (just found out) are burned out bulbs... and some minor things that I have to fix.
I do want a cover for the back of the bed though.. not sure how much use I will get out of the bed but I think those nice leather covers that go on the top that make it flush looks REALLY nice!

You might want to check under the bed to see if the missing tire is where the spare usually is. Maybe he just had a flat and switched the two.
I had a tonneau cover on my 1997 Chevy S-10, yes it looked nice but was more trouble for me than it was worth, so now I don't bother with them anymore. I like having the open bed, and I don't want a cover or a cap on it at all. To each his own though.

Where did you get them? Is the front bumper the same as the valence or does the valence attach to the bumper? Just want to make sure I understand since this is my first truck..lol
Thanks :-)

Mine had snaps on it that you'd have to unsnap every time you wanted access to the bed, then you'd have to re-snap it before you could drive anywhere. I had to get into my bed area alot, and it was a pain. I also couldn't put on a tool box, because the cover was in the way. I guess it all depends on what YOU want.

That's definitely the spare, so as dj wayne said, check under the truck. The regular wheel is probably there.
For the fogs, check out another truck that has the lights. I'd bet you can cut the hole out if you're careful, because where the indent is has the same shape as the indent for the fogs.

On my last ranger 4x2 without fogs (an '03) I got a used 4x4 XLT ranger OEM bumper and valance with fogs and the OEM radio bezel with a foglight switch also. It's not hard to put it all together. Seems like I remember the harness already being there behind where the foglight switch was and all I had to do was add a fuse, some minor wiring, and the foglight harnesses. As for that steel wheel, those are a dime a dozen. I'd just look around at some local salvage yards....you'll find some for cheap.

You can find his thread on here somewhere that he posted the next day with pics of it totaled.
I'd cry if that sh*t happened to me.

Do they make such a bezel for the 2x4 version? I see the 4x4 version on ebay for about 20 bucks but I think it would be silly to have the 4x4 switch that does nothing...
Yes truck is totalled :-( Hopefully I will get a nice one next saturday if everything works out.
I'll post pics and pray to god that the bad omen is gone...lol

Yep I was hit at an intersection...
And honestly I did cry that night for about 20 minutes... :-( I probably would have killed myself if it was my STi....
But yea, hopefully I will have my new ranger next week so I can post it up... It's nicer than what I just had too.
Very excited. I love these little trucks!
