So i had to take my truck to a mechanic the other day due to my truck misfiring and today i got the worst news ever. He has to pull off the heads and start rippin apart my motor because my pistons are hitting my spark plugs.
:Maybe I should put some high compression piston in that bad boy while its already taken apart

Piston was hitting the spark plug??? How did you manage that? The only way is if you or whoever worked on the truck last put the wrong plugs to begin with or if you went way past the torque spec and you stripped the threads enough to where the plug sat too low(I highly doubt that).
Yeah your pistons shouldn't hit your plugs... not to be pessimistic but how much do you know about your mechanic? Not to say that I'm one but I would imagine that if your pistons have moved that far out of whack, something is fubar. What happened to make you decide to take it in?
Was it only misfiring, or were you able to actually hear the tapping of a piston hitting the plug?
Did he show you the bent plugs? Damaged pistons?
You said pistons, so several were hitting?
This sounds pretty fishy, let us know how it goes man.

well first the mechanic is a family friend i so i dont think he is scrwein me. second its under warranty so i aint payin anything.. He didnt say it was for sure the pistion was hitting the spark plug but that was the most logic idea so far.. He was gonna take off the heads and look into the cylinder to see whats up.. How else would my spark plug be getting bent so bad? He showed me two spark plugs that were bent. the first one in cylinder two was pretty mashed it was bent down and got all tweaked out to the side. the other spark plug in cylinder three was just bent down.. What made me take it in was first i got a CEL for a mis-fire in cylinder two. and second you could hear a sort of ticking sound coming right from the spark plug. He is gonna give me a call tomorrow and tell me what is goin on so ill keep you guys updated
Well if I keep it I don't care about the noise but if I try and sell it then I'm kind of screwed.
There was a TSB put out but that's it. They extended the warranty for the Explorers a little bit to cover that. I think since we are out of warranty we are screwed. Thanks Ford.
There was a recall on the first couple years it was in the explorer, but when they put it in the ranger, no recall. Mine started to rattle, ching, or whatever RIGHT after the warranty lapsed. Does it off an on. I don't care. I'm at 90k now, starting making noise at 34k. No problems.
Anybody know what happens when i goes "good bye bye"?? The chain or belt or whatever is in there.

The chain will skip a tooth or two and the pistons will hit the valves. So basically when your engine sounds like it's making popcorn get the credit card out.
