alright.. i have a noise, and dont know what it is.. when i drive it sounds like its comin from the front right tire.. almost as if i were low on air.. or if i had big mud tires on it or somehting.. but i have stock size tires.. that have the correct amount of air in them. the noise only seems to come around when im in between 30 and 40 mph.. anyone got an idea what it might be??? as soon as i get a day or two off, it's goin to the dealer to be checked out.. but until then, i'd like to at least have an idea as to what it might be. let me know what you think!

when is the last time they were rotated or aligned?

 

hmm.. well i know its not air in the airbox.. i dont have an airbox, it came out when i put the k&n fipk in. the tires were aligned and rotated when i bought the truck back at the end of april.. i noticed the noise on the test drive.. but figured it wasnt anyhting too serious seeing as the truck underwent that ford certified preowned check thing.. blah blah blah.. anyway, i have a 5 year extended warrenty with the dealer, so i'm not to worried.. the truck drives perfectly straight and nothing seems to be effected by the noise; only me anyway.. its just annoying to hear it, thats all.

 

Could be a bad pinion bearing in your axle.

park your truck on a level surface, apply the parking brake but leave the tranny in nuetral. Go under the truck and wiggle the driveshaft up and down in and out near the axle. If it wiggles a bit in any direction, your pinion bearing is worn and should be replaced and whoever replaces it to also check the contact patch in the ring and pinion for wear.

 

It is the half-shaft excluder seal in the front hub. It can make a whistling noise as it rubs against the hub. Take it to the dealer and get them to replace them on both sides, they should do it for free. I had the same problem.

Bad wheel bearings would make a metallic scraping or grinding sound, and the wheel would wobble

 

mine does the same thing.. but mine sounds liek it's comeing from inside the cabin liek the screws to the Ac vent are loose and it rattles when i take off from a light
