can you search a members name on the PM page

can you search a members name on the PM page
If you start a PM from that section is it possible to search out the members name?
Right now it seems you have to know the name - verbatim - or start the PM from the member list or by clicking on their avatar in a post.
I might be missing something here so if someone can give advice it will be appreciated.
