NEED adivce: painting hitch & step bars
I want to repaint my hitch and step bars. I wondered how i should do this. Regular sandpaper or buy a grinder and go at it. There is some rust on both items and I want to pain them with roll on rhino bed liner for loocks and protection. Any advice would be wonderful as this will be the first time touch my truck. IM in the DIY phase of my life now lol.

I know. I'm in a military area so we get used cars from your neck of the woods. My brother bought a 1993 Saturn that had Northern plates and the oil pan had rust holes all the way through the pan. I'd never seen that before.

The first one we had was t-boned into the drivers side. The lady that t-boned her was going about 50 mph. I was 100% Saturn for my cars until they went to Honda engines and non plastic panels. I loved the plastic. Look down the side of a 10 year old honda and a 10 year old saturn. No door dings on the satun.

will powder coat rust over time and withstand some rock abuse?
well that would give me choice of colors as well... hmmm
could someone photoshop a photo of some white step bars then some glossy black ones? once i find or take a decent picture.
Now what about the hitch same thing?

sandblast both parts, tell who ever is doing the blasting to NOT 'just dust off' the step bars. you want a good sand blasting job. tell em you want them CLEAN. might cost alil more, but almost everyone who blasts will just 'dust off' your stuff and then prime it to cover up their crappy job at blasting. so, you gotta be straight up and say, dont just dust em off, CLEAN them. and then u gotta atleast prime them right away or theyll start to rust like crazy with in 24hrs.
