need help

ok well i recently had to repo my old ranger back.....i cannot figuer out what is wrong with the truck...it wont start all it will turn over .....i can spray starting fluid in tothe intake an itll start up for a second or 2 an then die? anybody have any ideas?...im kinda out of the loop on rangers these days..just want to get this thing back running...o an its a 2002 2.3l i think ? its the 4 cyl.....anyway thanks in advance throw out any ideas you have ill check them all lol thanks again

If it starts with the starter fluid then all the electrical should be ok. Sounds like a bad fuel pump.

ill check that out but i replaced the fuel pump less than ayear ago

Its definitely a fuel issue if starter fluid will make it run for a bit. so start with the basics like fuel pump, fuel filter, clog in the line somewhere, etc.

does our truck have a fuel safety switch or a fuel pump relay or fuse?

in the passenger side kick panel there is a fuel inertia switch. try turning it off then back on again. if it doesnt fix it than you are gonne have to figure out where in the fuel system your problem is.

how do i reset the switch?

an does anyone know what fuse goes to the fuel pump i don't have a manual any more

There is a button on top you have to press.

Also check the wiring harness on the bottom of that inertia switch... I had one come unplugged when someone put their foot in the corner when I had a truckload of people one time.

You can check to see if your fuel pump is creating presure by hooking up a pressure gauge to the fuel rail. Or the cheap way is to press the release valve of the shrader valve, looks like a tire valve on the fuel rail, and see if gas comes out.
