I have a 1986 ford ranger, i would like to swap out the stock engine for either the 2.5 duratec i-4 or the duratec 30 (second gen) i was wondering what kind of transmission (manual) i would have to get or if i could just stay with the stock 86 transmission

 

Well first off what motor does your truck have now?

Secondly there is alot to swap all that stuff over. You are going all electronic VS carb (im assuming). Ideally you want an entire running truck to do the swap from so you get all the little pieces

 

its a 2.3l v4 and its EFI

 

I would reconsider the 2.5L. There is a reason ford only put them in the trucks for 3 years.

 

well i was looking for a 4 cylinder engine that had the best N/A block to build from, thats the most power i have found, but i was leaning more towards the 3.0 since it has the i-vct
