well...the f'ing place i live in says my truck is to f'ing loud..and a bunch of other crap.. if i dont get it changed they are going to kick me outta here.. which i dont see how they can..but whatever..is thereanyway i can tone it down with out puttin a new exhust on? 40 seris muffler

 

you could weld in another smaller muffler somewhere in it that would make it quite, or you could weld in a piece of metal that will deflect the sound waves more and thus quieting it up a bit. not to sure wat to do seeing as i dont know wat yer exhaust looks like

If it was me I would just replace the muffler or put another muffler on there in addition to what you already have...

 

go to the police dept and ask them to test the db and see if its to loud for the city and if its not take a paper from the police to the people and give it to them and tell them to **** off

 

gibson mufflers are quieter

 

im with zach. how can they prove its too loud. if it is stay out of it when your in your neighborhood.

if you get it tested and it is under the noise limit, call the cops on them for harasment. or something.

it is a bunch of old folks complaining..and im not even on it when i go through here...i barley tap the gas to go in to my driveway..and thats the only time ir eally hit the gas going through here

 

go get a db test now..and shut them up now!

 

The local city cops tried that with me when I had my trans-am with a 40 series SI/DO muffler. Do like I did, Call flowmaster and ask them to mail you the papers that come with the muffler when you buy it. That say the muffler is 50 state street legal.

I got that paper from them and I showed it to the police dept. and they never bothered me again.

cause thats just BS that its too loud, i had noise ordanances...

i mean the dam harleys around me are like 180db and some of the fullsize trucks around here sound like yer at a dam tractor pull so id totaly get yer *** cleared of this BS they put on you

 

i have so many old folks look at me like im a freakin speed demon... i mean i am at at times, but they always look at me with that mean lookin face whenever im comin off a stop sign or somethin goin about 25 mph

 

gated communities..gotta f'ing love them..imma see what i can do about this to shut these people up

Open pipes :)

Take the muffler off which is annoying people, send a memo around that the LOUD muffler has been removed for there comfort, and when the special quiet muffler you ordered arrives, you will install it immediatly. State in the memo that the expected shipping date is two weeks out.
Then drive around with open pipe, they will beg you to reinstall the 40
