the 4cyl is a powerstroke diesel....

but if you read the link, its a f150 chassis that's shortened and lightened up, and will be similar to the Dakota with having a V6 AND v8.

edgeoffroad04 04-17-2008 05:54 PM

dont forget f-100 will be a crew cab(double cab) that will replace the sport trac...should both be great trucks. Im even more interested in the Bronco tho...owning a 73' myself

country346 04-17-2008 06:09 PM

All is very intersting , Im not sure I like the idea of it getting bigger , I like the small size for a reason if I want to drive down a ATV trail I can .
Although beefing it up and offering a V-8 is great news , My only worry is they need to fix the weak leak OUR TRANSMISIONS wich was not mentioned in the article.
Another thing ford needs to due is make them more fuel effeciant I have a friend who has an 06 supercrew Z71 with the 5.3 liter vortec and he is clocking 20 city and almost 24 highway , That being said they need better engine line ups than the outdated 5.4 and 4.6 V8 and certainly should make the 4.0 the stock powerplant...

All that being said I doubt I will buy one Instead I will almost certainly buy the bronco when it comes out ....

graniteguy 04-17-2008 06:11 PM

heres my favorite line and I'll probably get in line to buy one. lol.:

The Bronco will stay true to its original roots and be a capable off-roader with two solid axles, true 4x4 and a truck frame

edgeoffroad04 04-17-2008 08:40 PM

If you look at future powertrain offerings. The 5 spd auto in the rangers now, wont even been around then. Prob looking at a new 3.7 V6 mated to a 6 spd auto or manual? With FE improving greatly. Maybe even one of those new Eco-boost I-4s ford is talking about putting into vehicles. btw getting 20 and 24 in the 5.3 vortec sounds crazy. I drove one of new ones in an 07 suburbans (active fuel mangagement stuff) to Toronto and back, yah i know alot heavier. But we avged a hair under 18 mpg (that was the on-board computer) soo it was a higher # than that we really got.

MattN03 04-17-2008 08:57 PM

I hope Ford produces such a truck. We're going to need a bigger truck (true 4 doors) in a year or two when we have kids and, I thought I'd end up with a Tacoma eventually. Ford, build it so I can put another Ford in my garage please. :headbang:

whippersnapper02 04-17-2008 09:10 PM

What? New Bronco for me in 3 years? Why 3 and not 2 when it comes out? So they can work out all the bugs before I go and spend money on one.

morris 04-17-2008 09:31 PM

i'll belive it when it hits the showroom. i don't see the point of having two trucks that are similar in size. when that article says the new truck will be close to the size of a 99-03 trucks, i'm glad i bought mine when i did. i like it small. my neighbourhood is a pain to park in. plus going to the mall, it's alot easier to manover into spaces.

i wanna see pics of the bronco, my truck will be payed off by then.

Cool post, the Bronco sounds like it could be a top seller for Ford in the future.

therangerofdanger 04-17-2008 09:46 PM

that is a relief to hear... i liike where this is going....
I was really hating ford for seemingly stopping the ranger with no recourse

t3ob 04-17-2008 09:53 PM

all that sounds interesting, I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

i was thinking the same thing... now i want to see pics.

i had heard for some time they were building all this in the Detroit Truck plant.

but really how reliable is this source? ill wait until i see it at the dealer. i can hold out for 2-3 more years on the truck i got. :)

jeremy4876 04-17-2008 11:45 PM

I think I will just hang on to my '90 Ranger till it rots off the frame. Although the 4-door pictured in the article would make a nice replacement for my wifes way too fragile minivan . I was looking at a 4- door Dakota as a replacement ,but now I will wait! Arrrgh how I hate front wheel drive!

Fx4BlackRanger 04-17-2008 11:56 PM

i would love a new bronco god...does this mean the last year for the ranger before it takes a break is 08 or 09?? i hope its 08...

mikerider 04-18-2008 10:56 AM

theres some pics of the concept bronco they showed in 04 at the detroit auto show, looked killer in person.

Lord Of War 04-18-2008 11:10 AM

God... I want one of those Bronco's. Solid axles and 35's would be so nice.

outdoorsman 04-18-2008 11:10 AM

This is good news but I'll wait until I see more articles from more reliable sources before I get too excited. Once I see it on the dealer lot is when I'll totally believe it.

winks 04-18-2008 11:59 AM

I hope it is true. I'd love to have a new Bronco AND F100. :biglaugh:

outdoorsman 04-18-2008 12:33 PM

Yeah, that Bronco sounds very nice. I hope it comes out and it lives up to a true 4x4 with solid axles and all. That would be nice. I've always liked Jeeps but being made by Chrysler and their relibility I've stuck with Ford.

Oh hell yeah!!!

Trigger01 04-22-2008 04:10 PM

If they don't put that out in 2012, I'll probably end up buying a Colorado to replace the Ranger as a daily driver. I like it.

fifthranger 04-22-2008 04:22 PM

this mean the last year for the ranger before it takes a break is 08 or 09?? i hope its 08...
The article stated that at the end of 08' the Ranger plant in Minneapolis is closing. " They are going to deplete their stock of Rangers". I think it is easier buying one now than 8 months ago. The only problem is the colors. I've seem some Orange Grabbers in both 4*2 and 4*4 just sitting on the lot.

All in all I'm in shock. I thought for sure the Ranger was dead and buried. I still can't figure out why they would reintroduce the F100 for only a couple of years. They should have done that a while ago, but as long as the Ranger comes back I'm happy. I thought I had to jump ship. AKA buy foreign for my next vehicle.
