but if you read the link, its a f150 chassis that's shortened and lightened up, and will be similar to the Dakota with having a V6 AND v8.

All is very intersting , Im not sure I like the idea of it getting bigger , I like the small size for a reason if I want to drive down a ATV trail I can .
Although beefing it up and offering a V-8 is great news , My only worry is they need to fix the weak leak OUR TRANSMISIONS wich was not mentioned in the article.
Another thing ford needs to due is make them more fuel effeciant I have a friend who has an 06 supercrew Z71 with the 5.3 liter vortec and he is clocking 20 city and almost 24 highway , That being said they need better engine line ups than the outdated 5.4 and 4.6 V8 and certainly should make the 4.0 the stock powerplant...
All that being said I doubt I will buy one Instead I will almost certainly buy the bronco when it comes out ....

If you look at future powertrain offerings. The 5 spd auto in the rangers now, wont even been around then. Prob looking at a new 3.7 V6 mated to a 6 spd auto or manual? With FE improving greatly. Maybe even one of those new Eco-boost I-4s ford is talking about putting into vehicles. btw getting 20 and 24 in the 5.3 vortec sounds crazy. I drove one of new ones in an 07 suburbans (active fuel mangagement stuff) to Toronto and back, yah i know alot heavier. But we avged a hair under 18 mpg (that was the on-board computer) soo it was a higher # than that we really got.

i'll belive it when it hits the showroom. i don't see the point of having two trucks that are similar in size. when that article says the new truck will be close to the size of a 99-03 trucks, i'm glad i bought mine when i did. i like it small. my neighbourhood is a pain to park in. plus going to the mall, it's alot easier to manover into spaces.
i wanna see pics of the bronco, my truck will be payed off by then.

i had heard for some time they were building all this in the Detroit Truck plant.
but really how reliable is this source? ill wait until i see it at the dealer. i can hold out for 2-3 more years on the truck i got. :)

I think I will just hang on to my '90 Ranger till it rots off the frame. Although the 4-door pictured in the article would make a nice replacement for my wifes way too fragile minivan . I was looking at a 4- door Dakota as a replacement ,but now I will wait! Arrrgh how I hate front wheel drive!

this mean the last year for the ranger before it takes a break is 08 or 09?? i hope its 08...
All in all I'm in shock. I thought for sure the Ranger was dead and buried. I still can't figure out why they would reintroduce the F100 for only a couple of years. They should have done that a while ago, but as long as the Ranger comes back I'm happy. I thought I had to jump ship. AKA buy foreign for my next vehicle.
