Hey friends I'm a new member and I have recently purchased a 1996 Ford ranger ext cab 2wd with a 4 cylinder engine I think it's smallest I think. With a 5 speed manual transmission in excellent condition. My son just turned 16 and wants to learn how to drive a standard. Edmond and I like this little pick up. I have worked in the motorcycle industry for years as a student,mechanic, and instructor mostly on HD's. I figure it will be my son's first vehicle when we're done with it. We're going to replace the tires but it has 14" rims and we are thinking of upgrading to 16" and I thought this would be a great way to get info. Any information about this like which sub forum would be welcome

 

I remember when I was a teenager me and my dad did a 1965 Ford F100 restoration (352 V8 with a 4 speed manual transmission). When I got my permit at 15 I wasn't allowed to drive any automatic vehicles until I could drive that F100 without stalling or grinding the gears.
