Replacing lower ball joints

Ok , I have a 99 ranger 4x4 and need to replace a lower ball joint. My brother ,who is much more a mechanic than myself said he would help me do it. He said he was looking at a manual and it says you need a special tool for taking the front hub apart . It is the vaccum front hubs, with the plastic covers on them . I have looked online at specialty tools such as Lisle, Kd ect. and cant seem to find anything for this . Can anyone help? Or is it possible to get it apart without this tool ? Thanks

You need to pull off the CV shafts from the knuckle....so do whatever the manual says to do. I honestly don't know on your truck, but mine is a live axle(01 up i believe)....so i just undid the nut that holds the cv to the hub, pulled off the caliper, popped off the upper arm, popped off the tie rod, popped off the abs wires, popped off the lower castle nut, and set the knuckle on the ground.
