way to go .... besides im guessing advanced looked up your name number in the system and you were still under warranty
back in my honda days i busted the pass side axle on my accord, so one guy pms me his name and phone number and says use it at autozone .... so i go to autozone with the busted axle and say im him ... lifetime warranty ftw ... autozone didnt even blink when a RHODE ISLAND address came up in CALIFORNIA lol

Especially seeing as how if you get a defective battery or alternator, in my experience, especially alternator, you'll know in the first 10 miles. They don't last 2 whole years then just decide to go bad, so it was probably something YOU did, too much mud, too hard on it, ect...
apparently you dont have alot experience cause i have seen that alot, i work at an alternator/starter rebuild shop, and some alternators give you no warning on when they are gonna go out they just up and quit workin. if you got 2-3 years out of an advance alternator, man that's good.

Few months ago I had my 9 month old battery die on me. I couldn't figure out what was up with it, truck sat for a week, took it in, and while the battery took the charge and tested good, the guys at Checker warrantied the battery out for me and gave me a new battery. But, there is no way in hell I'd go in in 3 yrs and tell them they sold me a ****ty battery.
I've heard the stories, more from Ory (rangermuse), who works for Autozone, than others. I also put in 3 yrs in retail working the customer service counter for a year of that. I got good at reading the scam artists like the OP in this thread and never let em get what they wanted like that.

As much wrong as he did it wasn't his fault. I don't even know that I believe that story to be true.
Those things have warranties. Warranted items go into the computer with your number. Without giving them your number you CANNOT get a part warranted.
I work for my buddies shop and I know advanced auto pretty well. So not sure I believe that story.

story=100 percent true......didnt think of it as scamming them.........and the guys that worked at the stores were cool as **** thats y they didnt give a **** about the warrantys or nothing ...........lay off my truck runs im happy and who gives a flying **** if i screw up typin every once in a while.

it isn't the fact that you're typing is the issue, nor the fact the guys were cool as ----, but an ethics issue there boss. You admitted to it being what you said was "actually 3 years" rather than the one year, so you scammed them into a new battery. Granted a cheap battery from one of those places only runs 35-50 depending on where ya go, but the fact is it's theft and you really have to think about how others will view you. You wanna live with the scam artist title just cause you want your truck to run right?

I don't know how they could have just given you the stuff without any warranty information.
If they didn't get any information it would be like you just going in and saying... "I'm going to go shopping and not pay for any of this stuff and you guys are gonna let it slide right."
They wouldn't do that! Now they have no information of where that product went or when it went out.
Oh and wouldn't it be funny if those things died in a month and you can't get them warranted because they have no information on when you bought it! I am sure that I would LOL and a lot of other people would too.

no Trent, he's going to use the money he saved by scamming the system, causing Advance to tighten their return policy's to basically say you can't return anything, ruining everything for the rest of us, and he'll use the money he saved on the alternator and battery to scam a car dealer for a new truck!
