New truck! :-D

Had my 95 for a while now, getting high and miles and needed somthing newer for college and stuff. Came across this ranger and am going to look at it again tomm. I test drove it last night around a parking lot all sleemed well, clutch was great, rode smooth etc. http://maine.craigslist.org/car/720993169.html pics arnt great but it looks awesome in person! :-D Best of all the guy said hed take 4800 for it, which i thought was a steal since the miles are very low and its in really good shape. anything i should look out for on the 02's? are the 02's alot better than the older rangers? Thanks guys

Thats a good deal

after you buy it though replace that cam synchronizer gear on the 3.0 so it doesnt lock up for prevention

I have almost 70k on my 04 3.0 and it runs like a champ, doesn't burn oil or leak oil. Good find!

I'd think twice before you bought it... I mean, this is a great truck and all but the thing about Rangers is you can pretty much always find what you're looking for. If you have the time to wait I'd consider looking for something that has what you want... otherwise jump on this baby!

I had 115k on mine with no burning oil or leaking ran perfect till it self destructed.

I have read 75k+ change the cam gear so it dont self destruct Ive been seeing this happen more and more and its a problem with the 3.0

My 95 burns a little oil but that thing has almost 178k on it. just started burning a little oil too. I thought about it, i need something quick because I got to take a course this summer at college and i just want a vehicle now. I think its a good find yeah, but the 4x4, eh ill just take it easy in the winter . I'll probably be putting money down on it tomm when i go to look at it. I want this beast :-). Gas will kill me though :( also how much would that cost me to get replaced, the cam gear...

if your in Maine, i'd suggest a 4x4 ranger and a 4.0L for winter use. like mentioned before, why not wait a while and find something (that doesn't suck in the winter?)

yeah I did want the 4x4, oh well ill survive without it, ill just get a good set of all season tires and take it easy like befor. picking the truck up today :) for 4700. needs a few things though, breaks, and new rear rotors because they feel warped, oil change and a coolant flush because the coolant was disgusting. other than that the truck is immaculate.

new rear rotors? ALL rangers come OEM w/ drums. Looks like a decent buy though!

looks like a nice truck... i have 90k on my 02 and i love it... the cam synchro gear is cake to replace... it is a part that replaced the distributor on the older engines and it has a sensor on top that tells the engine when to fire... if it fails it will destroy your motor because it also is the drive for the oil pump... when you replace it get one from the dealer do not get the one made by Dorman

Could you possibly link me to the cam synchro gear?

I'm going on 95k miles on my 02 and I would like to replace this asap so my motor don't blow up.

Thanks!
