Have a look here.

The cam shaft position sensor was changed from a 3 to 2 wire, but it doesn't really matter, the block where the synchronizer fits in, remained unchanged.
You just use your unit on the other 3 litre.

And what were you looking for specifically ?

Any vulcan engine will work. There are many options. A 3.0 taurus Vulcan will work but you will have to swap a lot of parts over from your old engine.

At least get one with the roller lifters and the thinner TTY bolts.

So will a 3.0 from a 2007Ranger drop into my 2004 Ranger without any modifications?

Yes.
There may some differences in the EVAP system, but I think the connection into the intake manifold remained in the same place.

Obviously if you're changing from an auto to a standard, or vise-versa, you will have to change out the flywheel etc....

Both should by either standard or flex fuel.

The injectors are different between the two.
You would have to change the injectors accordingly.
