note to self:

i didnt want to hijack blue bandits thread so here goes

2 wheel drive ranger + cooper street tires + texas red clay + lots of rain = an idiot stuck in his two wheel drive ranger while everyone driving on the highway laughs!!!

okay here is the story. Yesterday i had sometime to kill so i decided that i would go out by the lake here in Abilene. So i go out ther and for about 15 minutes its very uneventful. I hit some puddles and was very proud of my self. So I see this hill and i wonder where it goes. So i go up the hill and realize that i am on a side access road of the lake(which runs right by the highway)...cool! so i start to go down this road very slow and the first 50 yards was fine. After that all hell breaks loose. My *** end starts sliding around and then im stuck! well i look up and realize that about 50 yards in front of me is a 2003 chevy 1500 2wd on bfg a/t's and he is major stuck...like he almost slid in the lake. Well to e a long story short, i fought it for about 2 hr ( i dont know anyone with a 4 wd) and i made it about another 300 yards and almost slid in lake. Well meanwhile a guy in a dodge 2500 4x4 heavy duty went all the way around the lake and came to pull me out...and he made easy work of it!

now my truck is full of mud...im ripping out the interior tommorrow...fun and i cnt drive my truck because it shakes from all of the mud!

im done with mudding...its too messy for me...

oh yea today when i went to take the guy that pulled me out some money so that he could get his truck washed, the chevy was stuck still, there was an older chevy stuck, a flat bed dodge thing( i think), and a ranger!!!!! hey at least i wasnt the only idiot!!

sorry for the long post but hey just had to tell someone...

moral of the story ...dont be an idiot street tires are for cars and trucks with big rims!

****update***** so i didnt have my camera with me so all i can do is get the aftermath:

plan for today:

remove door panels, seats, console, carpet, system( cant get the carpet without doing this)... not sure whats going back in though...might not put the system back, or the console...just not sure yet.

I have tried the whole 'i'm done with mudding' thing It will last for a month or two and then you get 'the itch' again. Street tires just make it more interesting....lol...

Man I should get some street tires on the back of my truck so I can be like a 2WD. It'd be awesome. I'll take off my 4wd stickers and drive around 2wd guys and get stuck right next to them and when they say "oh looks like you got stuck too, that sucks" ill say "nope!" flip the 4WD switch and drive out. IT'll be mad fun, i might even get my *** kicked.

street tires with no tread are even more fun. It's like running drag slicks through the red clay. My road home is made of red dirt, it rained all day, I now own an extremely dirty truck. Didn't get stuck though.

Been there, done that, lol. There's a swampy area around here, and back when I had Goodyear Eagle GTII tires I decided to check out the swamp. It was pretty messy, lol.

no, you'll probably stay suck, and then they'll make fun of you more.

switching to 4wd is not the automatic get out of being stuck switch.

4x4 automatic get STUCK pics

The aftermath:

Note the orientation of the truck to the road

Front passenger tire...there was about 2 inches of air between my rock panels and the ground and I was centered on my torsion bar covers and mid-skidplate

former Roommate's F-250 that almost couldn't pull me out. His el cheapo Big O All-Terrain tires were slipping on the moistened grass/sand combo WHILE he was in 4x4.

Moral of the storie....don't take BFG A/Ts through mud you THOUGHT you could handle. My tires were so caked I might as well have had slicks all the way around. I got to a point where even rocking it wasn't moving me.
