odd smel

ok I have had my truck for about 6 months now and just a few days ago I finly ternd on the heat. Shortly after I tern it on I smel a some what strong syrup smel. It has don this each time I have put it on. I am not to shere if it goes away after a bit or I just get useto the smel.

What could this be?
is it bad or just from not being used for at lest the last 6 months.

Something is probably decomposing in the heater core. Often it is a buildup of leaves, pine needles, dirt, etc. If you are so motivated, open up the heater core and clean it out.

The core could also be leaking coolant very slowly and the result is the same.
