5 Problems With My Ranger. Need Help.

I decided to post this just to get some help with my 98 xlt extended cab.
Any answers or suggestions would be very appreciated.

#1 The first problem is my CD player. It is stock and I am assuming it just needs to be replaced. The problem is that the CD player will power on, switch to CD mode, to AM mode, to FM mode, and switch off all by itself. Sometimes I can drive for 15 minutes without this happening and other times it happens every 5 seconds. I am wondering if this could be a problem with something outside the CD player because I do not want to buy a new CD player and have the same problem.

#2 The second problem is my passenger side window button. The passenger can roll down the window, but he cannot roll it up. I, however, on the driver's side can both roll the window down and up. I am assuming there is a problem in the connection but I am not sure.

#3 My key to start my truck and unlock the doors will not work in the driver's side door. It however will work in the passenger door. I don't think I can fix this problem myself but I really do not know what is wrong.

#4 My key fob, or the thing used to unlock the doors, has stopped working. It might be the battery but i doubt it because it stopped working after I dropped it.

#5 My right fog light lens has turned yellow and does not work. I am not sure whether I need to buy a whole new light or just the lense, or just the bulb.

Keep in mind that I have access to a junkyard that allows people to go out themselves and search the cars for the parts they need so I can probably get a hold of most of the parts that I will need. I just need solutions to the problems.

problem number 1 jus get a different cd player bc my 2000 ranger will play cd's for like 20 mins then wont so id get a new cd player.number 2 id install a new passenger switch and it will prob fix your problem. number 3 well id either say your key is kinda wore out or your truck has a diff door on it then what it had from the factory.number 4 either go on ebay and buy a new one and program it or replace your battery on the one you have.id jus buy a new one if i were you. number 5 you could jus change the bulb or go on ebay and buy a new one and it would jus look better than a yellow'd lense. or for most of the stuff you need go to a junkyard and get the lense and a passenger switch and go to walmart and get a cd player and the key problem hmmmm i dunno..

I pretty much agree with jason. As to #3, pick up some penetrating DRY lube and spray it in the switch and work the key in there in and out etc. and that should free it up. PB Blaster makes a very good teflon dry lube spray, the stuff works great on locks, you can find it at most auto parts stores.

^yep my drivers side used to get VERY sticky on some days, you'd really have to jiggle it around to get it to unlock.. PB Blaster is the shiznit. Sounds like if the fog lamp is yellow, then it has/had water in it or something..

On the CD player, I would look for a chafed wire.

I must not have explained the key problem right. The key will go into the lock but it won't turn. It is like I am sticking the wrong key in. I know I have the correct door though, because it opened for a while, then on and off, and now it doesn't open at all. Once again, thank you for the help.

Try the penetrating dry lube.

#1, Sounds like a problem within the face plate or control panel of the radio/cd player. I would consider removing it and taking it to a dealer to be sent out and serviced, they can at least give you an estimate of what it would cost to repair. It's most likely cheaper to fix the original unit than to install a new one.

#2, Most likely a dirty or defective switch.

#3, I would try spraying some penetrant into the tumbler first, but if you have power locks, it could also be a frozen lock actuator or latch. If the lock actuator or solenoid seizes it can prevent the key from turning as well. If lubing the lock doesn't work, I would remove the door panel and disconnect linkage to find the cause.

#4, The easiest thing to do is to try a new battery, if that don't work, try reprogramming that remote, if neither work, the remote is most likely shot. They do hold up well though, I've had those remotes go though the washing machine and dryer and still work.

#5, If the fog light lense is yellowed, it's most likely pretty rusty inside from water intrusion, so your probably better off just finding a new one. That will depend on how much time you have to mess with it as well, I am sure you could clean the old lense, repair the inside of the light and install a new bulb, but it's much easier to simply get another one.
