OHC - CAL light? VAR?

Got my OHC installed this weekend and after having it run for about 10 minutes, a CAL light came on. What does this mean? Calibrate? Calibrating? Calories? California? The compass has been a little off-whack also.

And while trying to get the CAL light to go away, I held the MODE button for awhile and a VAR light lit up and gave me the option to select a number between 1 and 10. What does this mean? I tried changing it but nothing really happened that I could tell. Anyone know what any of this jazz means?

It means roadtrip to california. See if you can run it again and see if it says "nor cal" or "so cal" jus so ur roadtrip can be a lil more specific.

All I can go on is my wife's expedition. When It says Calibrate, according to the manual, you have to drive around a few times in a circle well it gets it bearings. Don't know if it works for the explorer OHC but hey it's worth a try.

Hey does it do magnetic north or true north? That'd suck up here. If i drive true north i drive into a glacier, if I do magnetic north I drive into a river.

There'd be no way for it to 'measure' true north without first sensing magnetic north. Which one it displays, I don't really know. Only 7* difference here anyways.

Bob beat me to the punch, but thats what I had to do to reset my zone. Then to calibrate it I just went to an open parking lot and as per the instructions in the explorer manual drove in a circle slowly 4-5 times and mine has been dead on since.
