OHC problems......

OHC problems......

alright got me an OHC today and installed it......whenever i start my truck, it flashes from the degrees reading to the word ICE.........does this for a bit and then goes to just the degrees.......is my temp sensor bad?

also, it will only show that i am going South and South/East.......is the display fried in this thing or what?

My OHC does the ICE thing, to calibrate your compass I believe you hold the center button for 5 seconds, then drive 3+ REALLY slow cirlces to calibrate your compass, I think that's right.

The alternating ICE warning displays for about a minute when the measured temp is below 38F, then it should show the temperature continuously.

Here is the calibration procedure for the compass:

thanks Bob......i got the compass to calibrate properly now.......thanks for the info on the ICE display.....

Yes, a lot of folks don't know about the calibration. I should cover it better in my installation how to and link the page like Bob has above.

yea because i printed off both page #3 & 4 off your Car Domain extravaganze and took them to the garage with me.....followed them all the way....that was great instructions......i was scared shatless when i was cutting my headliner that i would cut too much...

hehe...I thought the same thing when I first installed mine. It's just a normal operation (the ICE display). The re-calibration procedure for the compass is a must do though and is very easy despite looking like a fool driving around in circles in a parking lot...lol! I have had the battery disconnected for several hours before and not had to do the re-cal of the compass. I'm not sure how long it takes before it wipes out the memory in the OHC.
