Oil change: Hot or Cold
When you do an oil change do you do it with the engine warmed up or cold?
I always do it warmed up thinking I will get a 'better" oil change with it being hot.

When the engine is Warm to Hot, oil flows better when heated, letting it drain quicker and out of smaller crevices that thicker oil won't (or at least in a reasonable time).
Plus where's the fun in changing oil if you don't have to dodge warm exhaust pipes and streams of oil . . .

I usually take the truck for a drive, up to full operating temp. Then pull it right in the garage and get out the tools I need, get the filter ready, oil out etc. So I guess what I'm saying is I change it while hot.
Flows out quicker and the truck keeps me warm when laying on the cold floor!

cold, thats just how my Dad taught me to do, plus that $hit is really hot runnin down your arm... plus it won't be all up in the engine and heads, thats how my Dad explained it to me... I never in a hurry when I do my either, I always take my time.
I normally let it cool down 15 minutes after I go to the store so I guess warm. I'm about to get one of those oil plug drain valves so no more playing don't drop the drain plug in the old oil game!
where u getting the valve at?
