Oil leak

Well looks like i got a small oil leak on my 2004 Ranger with only 22000 miles on it. Not looked at it yet just saw the oil spot in my garage. Just venting a bit and hoping its not anything too serious. Why me lol.

probably one of the most common leaks with our trucks, rear diff pinion seal or the front diff if its 4x4 transfer case maybe even tranny depending..ive replaced all mine once already and the truck only had 30 000miles when i did it..so dont worry about it the dealer will take care of you

pinion seal

Dealer said it was the front pinion seal. Any ideas how much they gonna charge me to replace it. Is it a labor intensive deal or something that is easy to get to and get out etc?

Cost = FREE <Should be under warrenty.
Time = 7.7 Hrs is what the book calls for.
If you had to pay: $770 < APROX It is about $40 in parts, rest is labor. Plus your shop fee's.

yeah I hear you, The ford dealer by me charges $95 an hour for labor... It is crazy! I work on my own vehicles (and other peoples) to help save people money. This $95/hr is a joke! When the tech might see what $30/hr...
