Is this an okay price?

I've been looking at alot of Rangers in my area trying to find one that is right for me I dont need something with alot of power or 4x4 so an old 2wd will suit me just fine. I found one with a 3.0 and I've heard that these engines last a long time what do you guys think about this truck? The cap that it comes with would be great for when I haul things and for camping. I checked the book on it and it is in the middle of the prices listed for it.

1993 Ford Ranger. Many new parts!

Looking for any input you might have.

It doesnt say that it was on the picture in the bottom right it shows the damage that they say it has it looks like two lines going down the bed maybe a foot long? I thought maybe an accident too cuz of the bumper and grill but the metal next to it doesnt look damaged.

Yeah, thats what I was wondering. Why do you paint the bumper and grille only and not the rest, especially where that scratch was... Hmmmm...I'd pass, imo but I'm by far an expert in the area.

Blue book says 2200 in excellent condition so 2000 doesn't seem to far fetched what should I offer? I have no idea really until i see it i wish i had a 5speed car to trade him instead of the jeep and a dodge 2500.

Not to bust on ya here billy and i dont mean this mean, but i hate to see posts like this, "is this too much", you've done the research and seen what it books for the question is do you want to pay that price. i cant sit here and comment on it because i dont know your price range and excatly what your lookin for, only you do. so if ya like it and got the dough get it or keep shoppin around. FYI dont jump on the first thing you see either.

It is in my price range but I don't want to get jipped and the best way ive seen to prevent that is to go by what people who have owned that type of vehicle would pay.

I understand what your sayin.....but my point is we cant physically to a walk around...lol BUT the advise i can give is, that if you have the cash and or paitence to save a lil more get a 4.0 you'll thank me later!!! i went through the same process. i bought a 04 edge reg cab, 3.0 2wd and kept it for 3 mths then i traded for what i got now for just a lil more and it was well worth it!!!

I'd agree with Josh - I have a hard time recommending the 3.0.

If you want the power, get the 4.0

If you want the economy, get the 2.3.... seems like the 3.0 is a compromise that makes no one happy... it's really not that much more efficient that the 4, and is not much faster than the 2.3.

agreed.

...then again, I did buy the first Ranger I came across.

...then again, again, it had the 4.0L and all the electric goodies, and the premium sound system, and low miles, and detailed, filled-out maintenance logs, and was WAY under book value, and ...

From what you said you were using it for it sounds like any running truck will do... your best bet is ALWAYS to have it looked over by a shop... I'd probably offer/settle for closer to $1500 but I also have a history of low balling it.

I do agree with the other guys though that 4.0 is the way to go, but I know it doesn't matter to you... I just wanna see pics of the sun roof!!

actually i think the 4.0 is more efficent......especially in a 2wd without the added weight of the 4x4 system, I know my 4.0 4x4 got more per tank than my 3.0 2wd did, but i also had room for 2 more gallon or so of fuel too.

Well hell, looks like they were right when they said my Ranger was on RF. Heard something about it over on The Ranger Station.

Billy, if your so interested in the Ranger why haven't you responded to my emails for the past three days? And your name on your email is Josh.. not only that but you gave me an unlisted number. I hope you understand it isn't just the seller that has to look nice, but the buyer as well. You feel squirmy. I've moved on to a different buyer.

I'm currently looking into trading the Ranger for a Acura Integra. Should get close to 30mpg.

If anyone is interested in the truck.. let me know. This new deal could still fall through. I'm not going to make an official thread for it, because what would be the point if I do go through with the trade?

I'm sorry it didn't work out Billy. You seemed like a nice guy at first. There's a good 4x4 94 on our craigslist, it looks like a good deal to me you should check it out.

--Edit--

And no, it wasn't in an accident. I just liked the look and my grill was faded.

In my opinion 2,000 bucks is too expensive for anything older than a 95, unless it looks brand spanking new inside and out....

My truck is an 02 model, I only paid 6K for it...

I was going by bluebook. I would have posted up a lower price but I wanted a trade more than anything.
