Optima Battery Help...Please!!!

So I went and bought a Red Top today and I was so excited...well I get home and hope it drops in there and no way...that sucker is too big. I tried the base things and I got it in there ok..hood closes ok. Then I go to tighten the wedge piece down and it just wont clamp the battery down. I cant get the battery to hold down tight enough.
What can I do? How did you guys mount yours? Help please!!
Thanks

I got a generic battery holder jigger installed. Just a plate that runs across the top to hold it down and to long a$$ bolts to crank it down. Kinda like the old F150's.

I'm an Optima retailer, so let me know any questions.

the part number starts with an 8 and is in a white box on the top left.

The 34-78 is the group size, but almost all optimas are group size 34- 78. the 34 indicates the physical size and the 78 is the same size but with side mount terminals.

If there are any Batteries Plus stores in your area, I would return that Optima battery to Advance and purchase an Odyssey. They are cheaper and have a much longer warranty.

See thats the only number I see on there..Its the only number in the part # box. The terminals are closer to the middle instead of being on the sides. This dern thing has just been gettin to me tonight with all the crazy adapters and stuff. Ill go look again and see if I see a different number..I just want this sucker to work!!

Mine was a really tight fit too. I had to bang out the battery box with a hammer to get it to seat right.

Thats the same Red Top I've ran in my truck for the last three years. I'd go look at the model number but it's cold outside... lol... maybe tomorrow if nobody else does and you care...

I've got the same one. It just fits perfect. My other optima i was running, is larger...barely fit...actually it didn't. I rachet strapped it and made it fit. That batt is in my subaru. My newone in the ranger....I havnt gotten around to rigging up a hold down....but i'm gonna drill holes in the stock tray, make a "top holder downer" or whatever....and run those long hooky things to the "holder downer" and wingnuts. Just like cherokees.

Heres what mine looks like The posts are closer to the middle thats what makes me think its the wrong one. Where can I get the smaller one? WalMart have it?
And another question I have is the plastic adapter pieces it came with..did anyone use those? Those things are just a dern hassle...

I had a 34/78 yellow top in my ranger-used one of the plastic pieces it came with-had to turn the plastic piece upside down or something but it fit-battery never moved until i flipped it, then it fell out. It took a good whack when the truck went upside down-nice gash in the bottom of it but didnt go through so now its in the new truck
It fits, just have to make it fit, but it fits, but recommend some tie down on top to hold it in place

I got the 34/78 and had to use a hammer for about 2 minutes to get it to fit right, but once I hit a few times I was amazed and how nicely it fit into the tray.

I'm pretty sure the 75/25 is actually the battery that "fits" into Rangers, but mine works fine.

haha, i'm going through the same thing. I just bought a 34/78 yellow top and it didn't fit either. I'm just gonna exchange it at costco because it's way too cold and snowy to be beating the crap out of my battery tray. So what are we saying, a 75/25 works?

Ya man go with the 75/25 for sure..that one worked just fine in mine. Now mine was actually a little small so let me know how yours fits. I just stuck a piece of plastic in the gap between the battery and the end of the tray..I just dont want it to move.
