Finally gonna have my Ranger back!

Hey guys! Long time no post. Not much has changed other than some stuff on the Chebby. I did replace the Valve in the Ranger a while back, but was too lazy (and also too much of a Jew) to get the rest of the parts I needed to put it all back together.

So last week, I was thinking of something to do after a really short day at work, and since I've got some money to burn, I figured it was time to start putting the Ranger back together. So, I started thinking about maybe just replacing the heads with remanned ones, so I called my local Napa, and asked them what the price of a remanned head was. $409 a piece WITH exchange of my heads. I was about to end the call when the parts guy said there was a machine shop in town that would pretty much reman the heads you have for a really good price and after giving me their number I gave them a ring.

After talking to the guy for about 10 minutes and telling him what was what, I took them down to his place (which is literally 3 minutes from my house), and I dropped them off. He said he'd clean them up for me and look them over.

Well, today he called me with some good news and some bad news. Since I would rather continue my day with good news, I opted for the bad first. There was another valve on the drivers side head that needed to be replaced, which he went ahead and did for me since he knew I would have said to do it anyway, lol. The good news was that he'll get the seal for that one and the rest of my gaskets that I'll need by the end of this week, and then I'll get my stuff back.

Now, I haven't gotten the bill yet, but I'm pretty glad I went ahead and took them down there. It would have sucked to put the damn thing back together only to find that I would have had to tear it all apart again. So, my next mission is to clear the snow away from the old girl, and then move her to the more functional side of the shop (outside of it of course, lol). Then I'll have the daunting task of trying to remember how to put the ***** back together since it's been way too long, LOL!

After that, I plan on driving it for a while to save some green at the pump. The Chebby has been running great and I still get good gas mileage, but it's a $60 fill every week (if I fill at 3/4 of a tank). While I drive it, I'm going to start gathering up some parts like a lift, some wheels and tires and the rear end out of the B2 and then later on this summer I'll start tearing her apart again only to let her sit for another two years before I'm motivated enough to work on it again!

Since I have nothing to offer as far as the Ranger goes, I'll show off some Vanilla. Since last summer, I got some new wheels and modified the headache rack I bought for it (since it was huge!). I plan on tearing off the rear bumper this summer and repainting it since it's turning into a rust bumper, then probably repainting my rack, grille, and mirrors. I do have a lot more stuff I want to do to it, but I'm still trying not to touch my massive savings account (seriously, I've turned into a mega Jew) until I get a house. Even though my parents garage apartment is nice, I sure as hell don't want to live in it forever, lol. Anyway, Chevy content:

And the newest one with the Ranger in it, lol:

Anyway, I'll update this as I go. Probably won't take much pictures as I plan on just getting it done, but once she's road worthy, you know it!

I plan on it!

I'm gonna go down and get some tags for it on Friday (pay day, lol). It's been unregistered for two years now. Hopefully I can just get the damn thing going on Friday!

FINALLY got a call from the shop. Heads are DONE! I'll be picking them up on Friday since I am pretty busy all week this week, lol. I may have landed a side job too, so I may not be able to get it fixed this weekend (depending on when I start the job/how long it takes). Next week looks really slow though, so I may even put it back together on Tuesday.

A problem I found: I don't know where all the bolts/nuts/parts go. Luckily I have a Haynes manual, but I still see mass confusion and frustration in my future!
