i use craigslist quite a bit, the worst was recently this FOB comes over to check out a bike i have for sale, shows up super early before i told him to, and is asking 2000 questions about the cable routing and all these technical specs and finally he ****in leaves cause he doesnt believe me that a bike shop would have charged $30 tops for a new chain.

yeah craigslist sucks. I have used it alot, buying and selling, and it was a great idea that has been taken advantage of.

To sell effectively you have to be willing to sell pretty low, have photos, explicit descriptions, reasons for selling, and set standars, making people come to you, so as not to waste your own time or money.

Thats why I prefer selling to people I know somehow.

Oh yea had a few of those douche bags call! Course Ive also had really good luck as well. Lower the price and they will have no problem meeting you. Everyone wants something for nothing on craigslist

I'm right there with you man. I'm trying to sell a trailer on craigslist I've gotten lots of emails and calls saying they want to come see it I respond to them and everything but nobody ever shows up, its definitely frustrating. I've learned its sort of like selling a house if its on the market to long and people just aren't biting take it off wait a couple months and put it back on. Thats worked for me a couple times.

Exactly what I do. Always go through e-mail. Have had some pretty good luck and no real spam. Granted I'm selling pretty little stuff like PS games, DVD's, etc.

I get a lot of e-mails initially, and usually every other will actually respond.

If someone is really serious about buying they will call before an email. I think email is strictly to low ball buyers. Im guilty of it myself:)

I have had nothing but success using craigslist to sell stuff. sure, some people welch out on deals, but that is to be expected. Considering all the BS that you go through to sell stuff on ebay these days, its worth the hassle IMO
