POSSIBLY THE FUNNIEST STORY EVER TO BE TOLD ON ranger-forums.com!!! READ FOR LOL's

OKAY GUYS.

So as you all know,
Im getting ready to start this new job(with 72 hour shifts).

Knowing that Ill have little time for anything, I decided Id go ahead and take this week to get my truck up in shape.

My new truck is in dire need of paint, and the humiditys down. So I figured Id go ahead and paint it.

Another job I was going to tackle was a very very major PITA.

REPLACING THE HEATER CORE.

DUM DUM DUM

After trying to backflush twice since I got the truck.

And some ongoing, strenous, in depth testing in my laboratory(lol) I finally trusted my intuition, THOUROUGH
Mechanical experence, gut feeling, and the guys at www.ranger-forums.com...I FINALLY DECIDED THE REASON MY HEAT WAS NOT WORKING WAS THE HEATER CORE.

So today I decided to tackle the job.

They say every amazing journey begins with a single step.

Well in my case, it was the dash pocket, all trim within a 12" radius of the dash, both air bags, complete steering column...
excetera excetera excetera.

I mean my body went in some positions i never knew possible.

Foot prints on the headliner, windshield, both seats...
I popped a few cranial blood vessials.
Dipped a full can of snuff.

And dad burned...where did I ever place that 29/32 Deep socket with the flex, reversed polarity, flashlight, and auto stud/head/nut finder at?!?

Well after 4 hours of strenious labour I finally made it to the exterior of the truck.

I once again popped the hood, disconnected the heater hoses from the heat control valve, and for the first time, disconnected them from the firewall....

YOU SEE...PREVIOUSLY I HAD TRIED TO FORCEFEED WATER THROUGH THE HEATER CORE VIA HEATER HOSES FROM THE POINT ON THE HOSE WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE CONTROL VALVE.

Never before had I thought to remove the hoses, and check for interferences.

BINGO!!!

After removing the hoses, I take the first hose,
remove t shirt.

Wrap around hose, and BLOW!

WHAT COMES OUT?

A Cadilac?

No.

A registered angus steer?

Almost.

AIR OUT THE OTHER END?!?!

MOST CERTAINLY NOT!

Then it hit me.

I had just removed almost every stinking piece of interior in my truck...because of my failure to check the hoses.

You want to know what came out of the first one?

BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

I had to run to the house, wake every one up, find the camera, and take pictures.

GUESS.

....

.....

....

DID YOU GUESS A .54 Caliber Muzzle loading conical bullet?

IF So...

well your good, and you deserve a shirt that says,
Im good.

If not.

You are wrong.

But do you want to know what came out of the second hose?

Who knows.

Really.

Who knows WTH it is.

But there is two of them.

And I don't know what they are.

So my question is.

Why would someone intentionally obstruct flow to the heater core?

It was a fleet owned truck,

and now I have REALLY REALLY HOT HEAT.

There is not one leak anywhere in the interior that I am concerned(knock on lead).

IM JUST PUZZLED.

anyways...Ill have the truck painted by the end of the week with pictures of the new paint, new mirrors, and emblems.

In the meantime, peace out.

And thank you for viewing,

Things found in cooling system.

Tune in next week for another episode:
Man finds long-lost grandmother in rear differential housing.

Find out how she survived, with a guest appearance from Oprah Winfrey!

Was the previous owner a dumbass?

They might have plugged the hoses because the heater core leaked. Thats what happened to my Mustang. But at least on my car the hoses were blocked by bolts and not connected to the heater core.

Did you replace the heater core anyways?

I probably should have, but found no reason to throw away 60+ bucks on a new heater core/Blend door actuator. There is no leaks in the interior.

It was a fleet owned vehicle. ONE owner. Period. Came straight of the fleet. I don't know if maybe they were duped by a redneck gear head. Or what.

Out of curiousity if the core was bad, would there be any leaks?

It wouldn't necessarily leak if it was bad. It could leak if it rusted enough to make a hole, or it could be plugged. That's what normally happens.

Not to threadjack, but....

Here's a pic of my stang.

When I worked at the Ford dealer we couldnt figure out wtf was going on with a ranger that had road vibration. Eventually we went to check road force blah blah blah on the tires, and one of the (typical UAW) workers had somehow mounted one of the tires with a golf ball inside. How the hell I didnt hear it spinning around in there when we came to a stop I dont know....

So, pictures? I don't know what it is without looking at it. Are you actually saying that two 54 caliber muzzle loading rounds came out of the first hose???

Sigh. You have no idea little boy.

I haven't found anything strange in my cooling system other than coolant.
