Potential Frame Issues

I'm looking at buying a 2000 Ranger 4x4, when I told him of my problems with my wife's Tocoma, he indicated that he had work on almost as many fords with rusted out hangers. I know I need to get back with him to be specific, but does anyone know of any Ranger "hanger" issues?

Thanks, Tommy Rosewood

Tacoma frame rust issues are in another realm. They are well known with recalls replacing frame rails and all sorts of problems with rust. 98+ Rangers in my opinion are one of the better trucks ever as far as rust proof. There is no comparison. Rangers can obviously rust like anything else but the solution is to just look at the truck. Spring hangers tend to hold water so yes they can rot, but is it an issue specific or problematic with rangers? No.

Rear spring hangers on all pickups rust out, Rangers are no different, if vehicle is from an area that salts in the winter then they will need to be changed at some point
Front hangers were not as bad at rusting, but...........if theres salt there will be rust

If all 4 rear spring hangers show rust out then it is easier to remove the bed to do the work, 3 screws, 6 bolts and unplug the tail lights, bed can be pulled up and off by 2 people
