Power drop issue
I got a 99 ford ranger 2wd with the 3.0L V6 (its a 5 speed manual). We were having a cylinder misfire so we replaced the spark plugs, ignition coil, spark plug wires, fuel filter and injectors and the misfire stopped but after we changed the injectors, when shifting into gears it would loose almost all power but not consistently, as we would shift again it would stop but start again soon after. Is there anything else we can do to help fix it so it stops loosing power?

What did compression test show before you did the parts change?
A lot of money to spend on any engine without FIRST testing the compression when there are misfires
Is your 1999 3.0l a gas only or Flex fuel?
They use different injector sizes
Look at the VIN, 8th digit
U = gas only
V = flex fuel
Flex fuel needed larger injectors for 1999 3.0l computer
1998 and up Rangers need 55-65psi fuel pressure, test that with engine running
we knew the injector was bad. As soon as we changed it the misfire code when away and it rode a lot better.
It is flex fuel and I’m pretty sure we got the flex fuel specific injectors, but I may be wrong.

The smaller "gas only" injectors would cause constant lean codes in the Flex fuel computer

Flex fuel computer wants 21lbs injectors, 19lbs will work in a pinch, V8 injectors
Gas-only computer wants 14lbs injectors
In 2001 the computer software was changed so they used the same size injectors
More fuel flows out when you open a 21lb injector for say 100ms(milliseconds), then when you open a 14lb injector for 100ms
Flex Computer is programmed for 21lb injector flow
So if hooked to 14lb then less fuel flows out
So computers calculation will be "light" on fuel, lean, so computer has to open the 14lb injectors longer than calculated, if its more than 20% longer then you get lean codes
You still need to do a compression test
