prally a dumb question but.....

20ft pace american trailer. Prally add another 3k to it when loaded down.

think my 4.0 ranger level 2 could pulled it good if I added a add-a-leaf and a trailer brake :indiffere

TrailRateThisFx4 01-23-2007 04:16 AM

haha it would pull it...I pull a 20 ft bass boat with my truck durring the summer...and i have had my truck hitch up and moved a 32 ft travel trailer....the truck didnt like that verry much but it did it...you might put some strain on the truck...i just wouldnt pull that verry far...

LILBLUE04FX4L2 01-23-2007 04:19 AM

'prally' you done be blowin up your Ranger good

JoshK 01-23-2007 04:41 AM

lol well if I got somethign like that then I would want to pull it about 4 hours at the most  I shoulda got a bigger truck

zabeard 01-23-2007 04:58 AM

how much does it weigh?

it would be hell in wind. put some chevy springs on your truck to control the extra load.

why not just hook up and try it?

JoshK 01-23-2007 05:01 AM

That one is too far away but I have found very similar trailers going for $1000 dollars with damage on the roof. Well my dad is a trailer mechanic so we could have a nice 20foot inclosed trailer for under $2000 that cost new 8 - 10k. I might hook up to a 24 foot and see what happedns. I guess I am not worried about the suspension. I could do the chevy springs and a add a leaf to take that away but do you thikn a 4.0 v6 could handel it?

zabeard 01-23-2007 05:07 AM

i think the engine can do it. trans ??? and with the 33s its gonna be hard.

maybe go back down to stock tires and it would be better or regear ?

idk i would just try it. but how much does it weigh? 3000? if so that is too much.

5000lbs and under total weigh will be fine. (includes the quads)

if your serious about it i will help you pull the lift and stuff. same with the brake controller. brake controller is under 100.

Hell no the lift and 33s are staying lol. No way I am ever going to stock. lol. I will add some thing thoug. Good excuse to add new thing huh?

I would think 4.10s 4.0 v-6 with 210 HP (think I am right) could do it. I am just gonna load up and see

zabeard 01-23-2007 05:25 AM

yea its just gonna sag like mad.

if we can find some stock 1/2 ton chevy springs that would help alot

JoshK 01-23-2007 06:14 AM

I will load up to brads 24 footer see how it does engine wise. If it does good then I will look into chevy springs and stuff

ranger024x4 01-23-2007 07:28 AM

manual or auto?

zabeard 01-23-2007 07:29 AM

auto

pushnf8 01-23-2007 07:31 AM

You could always add a weight distribution hitch and a sway control. That will help with the sag. Chevy springs in addition would be great. It will come down to the truck towing it. I have towed a 20' trailer with a deisel bobcat with my ranger. It really didnt like it, and spent most of the time trying to push the Ranger of the road but if you take it slow and drive smart it gets done.

Redneckstone 01-23-2007 07:35 AM

why not go with like a 15ft help save on weigh a little

lol, its all in the torque with towing.

It should be able to tow that sucker, but some stuff that would help greatly would be -

- Chevy Springs like Zach mentioned
- Programmer with a torque or towing tune
- Lucas Transmission fix
- 4.56 gears

Probably some other stuff that i forgot that you guys can fill in for me

Just another excuse to mod!!!!!!!!!!!

HAZZARDJOHN 01-23-2007 08:09 AM

Your Going to fry the tranny! it is not built for that. I highly suggest towing it with something else.

shadyluke 01-23-2007 08:48 AM

at least a better tranny cooler than the stock one.

bryanjints 01-23-2007 02:05 PM

get some chevy springs and 4.56's and i would tow it. although I once put so much concrete in my truck the springs were bent backwards.

INT3RC3PTOR 01-23-2007 02:27 PM

ive seen an 91 Olds cut supreme pulling a 20ft deep hull boat.. props to that dude

Pretty sure thats what he is talking about.

Josh thats a larger trailer lol, ill pull it for ya hahaha

JoshK 01-23-2007 06:41 PM

Ya its a big trailer. I guess I am just trying to figure out how big of a trailer I could tow for around 4- 5 houirs around 60 - 70MPH saftley. I think I could do it cuz my friend had a tacoma older one and it was less powerful then my truck and he pulled a 20footer with 4 quads in it. SO I think I can do it I just need to load up to one and see.

I am just more affraid the trailer knocking me off the road lol

Redneckstone 01-23-2007 06:49 PM

i would look more at the 15 footers do you really need that big for atv's?

JoshK 01-23-2007 06:51 PM

It can never be too big :icon16:

Yes and no. I would like a trailer I could fit 4 quads in and be able to make so-me shelves and tool boxes and some hideaway beds.

barrman 01-23-2007 06:58 PM

i'd suggest against the lucas additive, and here's why:

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htm

it can cause foaming, which is NOT good in ANY engine fluid situation, ie: transmission fluid, engine oil, gear oil, etc etc. check out the above link... they do some great tests and you can see firsthand what happens to the fluids with lucas additives in them!

the testing is more targeted towards engine and gear oils, but you get the idea.
