question about 1999 wheel hubs

so i broke my wheel hub and called a junk yard to get on cheaper because they are like 400 buck from ford. i got my hub for 80 buck and when i went to change them i noticed that they were different. My hub a pulse vacuum locking one...(i think that's what it is called). My question is did they make hubs for a 1999 that were not pulse vacuum locking or was the hub the guy sold me from a 01+ ranger.

Rugged Ridge/AVM sells manual hubs for PVH rangers...

But..

Live axles FTW!

failproof hubs. plastic tends to break....i like having 4wd whenever I need it. 100% locked = failproof. PVH < Live Axle. Next thing to break is the CV..which takes some work to break.
