Gonna be without the truck a few days :(

The fiance's car zonked out today. Will not go into 3rd or 4th. Its a 97' Escort LX Sedan automatic. It has a little over 100,000 miles on it. Filled the fluid on the transmission, nothing doing. At first it wouldn't do anything, I got it going into 1st and 2nd though.

I guess we're gonne drop another tranny in it.

Also any ideas on this? Her lights are phucked up. You have to ride with them on bright to see anything. But on bright, they look like dim and on regular, they look like they are on really dim. There is no dim and bright , just dim and regular. She hit a deer last year and had to have her headlights replaced. But that shouldn't bother their function. Any ideas guys?

I guess when she gets the car back, I'm gonna put a headliner in it, clean and detal it and shampoo the inerior and see how many more miles we can get out of it. Other than that, her car is really nice, especially for a 97...

Now I'm going to be driving my buddy's damn S-dime for a few days while the fiance drives the Danger Ranger.

The light problem is probably just a bad ground.

Aint that just our luck! I think we can get a tranny fairly cheap. They found one for her sister's ZX-2 for a little over $100 and their uncle installed it (he's a mechanic). Anyhow also thanks for holding them hooks for me while I help her with the car man

At least you're driving an s-10...im driving a purple 4 door colbalt because my clutch is so gone I dont know if Ill be able to drive it to my buddy's tomorrow to replace it...and the heatercore just went out...Now the cab smells like puppy breath.

At least you got a mechanic on hand....replacing a FWD tranny would cost a fortune at a shop.

as of the moment, I'm really missing her! I finally got to drive her last night for the first time in three days. It felt wierd, couldnt even drive her right from driving that dans s-dime. In the s-dime, everything rattles and the steering is real loose because its a 89' model, not to mention its a reg cab so im driving with my elboy in my chest..lol. I got im mine and give it gas and off i went! It felt good. i had to give her back up though. HOWEVER, i get new tires tomorrow and the truck in MINE again, Sara is going to borrow one of her friend's cars so i can have my truck back.

Still haven't found a tranny yet. i have combed CL. I can find 98+ trannies all day long, but no 97 (98+ wont work). And when i do find a 97' tranny, its either too far away of too much. I found six 98+ trannies today in a matter of five minutes for under $250. I then found two or three 97s, and one wanted $450, the other $350, one was too far away! I'm getting aggrevated. Stupid Escorts

I wish she could. She graduates with her LPN Degree today, I think once she gets a good paying job she will. She gets paid $10 an hour as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) right now. Once she gets a nursing job, her pay will go way up! Plus, id like to have this car once we get married to drive back and forth to work as a beater so i dont have to bring the Ranger to this damn rock quarry anymore.

She got this car back in 2004. It was a 1-owner car with a mild rollover. It had 51k on the clock. Her daddy's best friend owns a body shop, so he did all the work to it and he is the best around! I think they only have $1200 in it all together. That includes price for the car! So it has been a good car. Plus its been through ALOT!

her sister drove it into the side of their house (house was fine, Escort was not!). Front end damage! It got fixed by same body man. Its been backed up into another car, but no damage luckily. Then last year a deer ran out in front of her and messed up the front end again! She got it fixed a third time. Me and her got into an argument one time and she backed into a telephone booth and scratched the crap out of the truck lid. So you can see this little escort has been through alot and it still looks great! When she gets it back this time, I'm gonna put a new headliner it, give it a tune up, shampoo interior, wash, wax, and detail it and it will look like a new car again. I cleaned it up real good back after it got fixed the second time and it looked like it had just rolled off the lot in 97'.

She is. She was in the RN program year before last, failed one class by 2 points and got released from the program. That's how it is at the local college here. In the nursing program, you have to pass every class before you can go on. If not you are released and have to apply again and start all over. And the waiting list is two years long here. So she went into the LPN program. She has to work for a year now, then she is guaranteed a spot in the ADN (RN) program. I then think she has to go through that for one year and she will have her RN license. At least this way, we can start on our lives now as far as getting married and finding somewhere to live. But when she goes back to get her ADN, she's not going to Surry Community, but instead Forsythe Tech in Winston Salem; its a much better school and program

Sara works in home healthcare right now taking care of children with disabilites. She has been taking care of a young girl who is paralyzed from the waste down. She's been with her for three years. She also takes care of a little girl with Cerebal Pausy. Have you considered home healthcare as a job until you get your degree?

ive thought about it but i dont think its for me. i have to take a weekend class to get my home health aide. i really want to work at a hospital but they wont hire without experience, and i dont have any since i just got my license, so im going to try old folks homes, get my 6month to a year experience then try the hospitals again. maybe even prisons since they make more money there then hospitals.

If she is ever interested in coming over to Chapel Hill and working at UNC, my aunt is the head nurse there and can probably get her a job.

Thanks Trent! Sadly, I think that she want to live around here because of all of our family. So, she'll probably work in Winston Salem. Chapel Hill would be a LONG drive....If we ever change our mind, ill definitly let you know! I think my aunt is a nurse there too. I know she went to UNC chapel hill to get her degree, and i think she works in chapel hill now. Peggy Lane is her name
