I will tell you what I was told by a police officer.

Basically if you use it in a parking lot, like while you're parked, you shouldn't get a ticket. But if you use it on the street you're impersonating an emergency vehicle and will get ticketed if caught. They're illegal in california and probably most states, i think, but dont quote me.

Alot of us have them, I have one, they're fun. Just be smart when using them and don't use it around cops. Thats a given.

So far no ticket on my end, but I dont use it that much anymore. The novelty has worn off a bit.

PS: Stay away from insults, I had a buddy who had one and insulted some lady calling her a female dog.. and the lady followed them for awhile on her cell phone.. Possibly trying to get his liscense plate and talking to police.

a cop told me

as long as your not yelling at people to get out of your way and what not, theres nothing against them here in the county

It isn't a siren. A PA system is not illegal as long as you aren't disturbing the peace, violating a noise ordinance, or telling people you are the police.

Haha, that's awesome. I always wanted to scare the **** out of someone speeding past me and turn on the fake sirens and see them brake, but I know I would get caught for impersonating the police.

Why add a PA system when you can add a pair of machine guns.
