Quick Truck comparison

Not comparing eachothers trucks, just the trim packages.

So I have a 2009 XLT 4x4, but my question is, what is the difference between my trim package and a Sport 4x4. I see some have the fender flares, my XLT does not. Are there any suspension differences? Can I buy the same lift kit and get the same results? Rear Ends? Are Sports even made in 4x4? See guys I'm somewhat clueless!

Help a Noob out!

Brandon

yes, you can get a 4x4 sport, yes you can do all of the same upgrades as the sport. xlt, i believe, is base model, sport is a slightly higher package... suspension shouldn't be any difference, rear ends would be similar, not sure if they are identical, but would be interchangeable, i have an 07 fx4 level II and i'm pretty sure 99% of the items would be interchangeable between ours... the only difference i would be worried about is i think my truck has 4.10's and you would probably have 3.55's so your front diff wouldn't work with my rear, or vise versa...

i have an 07 Sport 4x4 and Chris (Vista4.0) has a 07 XLT. we compared trucks and we have the exact same powertrain rear end ration, rear end, basically the whole truck is the same except he doesnt have all the power options and his is a stick. its basically a cosemetic package for the sport, because i have the color matched grille and fender flairs and mirror caps that the XLT does not. My interior is different from chris's where i have bucket seats with a console and he has the 60/40 seats. the XLT can be optioned exactly like a sport but it wont have the flairs, painted grille and mirror caps. im not sure what gears you have but me and chris both have 3:73's. im pretty sure its just optional equipment thats different. but i agree with weezl about the Sport being a slightly high package because, well at least when i was buying my truck the Sport came with more standard equipment then the XLT's i saw.

xlt is not base. xl is.

mine's an xlt. i ordered it wth 3:73s. came with power options, 40/60 bench and chrome accents. the grill and mirrors are capped in chrome. there are no flares.

they're all the same trucks just different packages. xls and sports don't have carpet flooring. xlts do. xls give a bench seat. xlts have the option to give "comfy bucket seating". xls have crank windows and manual locks, xlts have the power windows and locks.

I have the 3.73 with an open rear end in my XLT. Do your guys' trucks have a leather wrapped steering wheel? Mine does, but I remember my previous Rangers did not. Basically I just wanted to know if I was to lift my truck, would I see the same height results? My previous Rangers with Torsion bars were slightly taller stock.

don't reference other vehicles for lifts... if you want to know what a 2 inch lift is going to do, put jacks under the body (not suspension or drive components) and jack it up, measuring before and after, i would use fenders as reference points, so that the fenders are 2 inches higher than they sit without the jacks... that's what YOUR truck will look like with a 2 inch lift...

they should all be the same though, 4x4=4x4 and 4x2=4x2, the only difference i think is the fx4 package, which came with different suspension, but i could be wrong on that...

p.s. my truck (07 fx4 L.II) has cloth buckets, leather wrap s/w, slush mats, and a half console (standard transmission) it also has a leather shift boot and a "glass" shift ****

the suspension is identicle on all the T-bar trucks, the only difference is in the shocks and another thing is your rear end on the level 2 is totally different than all the other trim packages not that it matters to the op in his case.

OP, your truck is identicle to the sport 4x4 other than a few exterior and interior differences nothing in the engine, gears, susp. or overal driveline is different, 3.55-4:10 gears are all optional on the xlt's and sports
