ranger - 0 sand dunes - 1

ranger - 0 sand dunes - 1

well basically got out on the sand for an hour. got a little brave and got stuck. once i was out damage was bad

assesed damages.

bent leaf spring
bent U bolts
bent axle
bent driveshaft
bent front cross member
bent rear bumper
dented tail gate
shattered bed side
shock
popped a bead
possible bad ring and pinion.

and who knows what else.

once he got me to the parking lot we sorta used a come along to straiten the spring far enough to get it out of the corner of the bed. once that was done i drove the truck 2 miles back to the camp ground. it dog tracked all the way there i basically had to have the steering wheel turned 3/4 turn to the right jsut to go strait.

total cost so far.

dune recovery unit - $175 (towed to dune parking lot)
diesel for truck and trailer once it got up here. $71
diesel for the truck once it got home. $69
tipped my friend 100 bucks for the trip.(good to have great friends)

i want to thank bill, evan, mark, and all the others for the help on getting it loaded up and gettting me back to the camp grounds.

i cant find my camera cable right now but ill post pics later.

quote of the weekend was "gosh darn it"

its still sitting on a trailer but hopefully i can get it going down the road by next weekend. hoping*

Red_Ak_Ranger 05-20-2006 10:56 PM

Sorry Zach that sucks. But your truck simply isn't made for jumping. Did a leaf spring break? That's the idea im getting. Sounds like the back end set down hard or something.

eDg3 oF cHa0s 05-21-2006 12:02 AM

Zach man........You're not supposed to let that happen to your truck!

Redneckstone 05-21-2006 06:04 AM

Guys Zach didnt say anything about Jumping his truck and i HIGHLY doupt he did, he isnt a moron.

on that note Zach man holy crap So SORRY to hear man, wish i could have been there to help. just glad everyone is completely ok, and un-hirt that is the important thing. Let me know if you need me to go parts hunting at the junk yard on Tuesday its my day off and i am off next weekend i need to drive the stuff down.

n3elz 05-21-2006 06:39 AM

It maybe was a jump he didn't intend. Did that myself. I don't know as being stuck would give you that much damage in and of itself.

It's a bummer no matter how you look at it. Sorry, Zach.

RockysFord 05-21-2006 07:34 AM

Damn man that sucks.....Post up pics ASAP

Rocky

zabeard 05-21-2006 07:41 AM

no jumping involved. basically we were being stupid. its hard to explain but there is a video that bill has on what we did. after it is over with not really sure what we were thinkin. it wasnt the first time we did it but it was just too soft in this spot. there are basically 8 holes 36" deep in this one spot. but hidden by water.

i will get the video hosted this week, you guys can shake your heads and be like moron or whatever but we were just having fun, i really dont know what to say other than stuff happens.

basically the chevy leaf gave out and bent, its at a 90* angle right now. alot of the people at the dunes have never seen anything bend quite like that. if the spring wouldnt have bent 90% of the damage wouldnt have happened.

evan ill give you a call later today about the axle.

and zach maybe you guys got something up there idk, but ill let you know.

hopefully i will have a better assesment of the damage in a few hours.

i appreciate the sorrys, but its my fault, sucks it happened, but there isnt much you can do about it. but make it better :biggthump

when i got home my mom asked if it still looked like a truck. lol my comment was sorta. :scared1:

buzzair 05-21-2006 07:56 AM

Sorry to hear that Zach. I know you'll bounce right back though.

Trigger01 05-21-2006 08:17 AM

Redneckstone 05-21-2006 08:33 AM

man..wow...have fun getting it off the trailer Zach. I'll hit up the junk yards Tues and talk to you in the morning tomarrow. if you have any questions give me a call after 4:30. remeber if your bed is all tweeked up there is the one in Tenn it would probly be cheaper to buy that whole thing then a new bed side. just talked to bill and erv there braking down the tent right now and leaving. erv thinks he is gonna leave the flag on the truck to drive home lol bill keeps harrassing him saying he is gonna hit overpasses..

ranger024x4 05-21-2006 08:41 AM

sorry to hear that man... hopefully everything will turn out

zabeard 05-21-2006 08:45 AM

ranger024x4 05-21-2006 08:49 AM
