I was following behind a Ranger one day similar to mine and noticed it had a GT badge on the tailgate (where some of you put the 4.0 badge). It was also written in a similar if not the same style. From behind it seemed to either be a Gen4 or 5, i can't remember what style the taillights were.

I found a link for the Ranger GT on TRS but they only made them in the 80's. http://www.therangerstation.com/reso...T_History.html

But i was just setting here wondering why he would have added the badge to it. Maybe he did some mods to it? But i doubt it because it almost seemed as a work truck.

they made a gen2 Ranger GT Dugan;-) jsut thought I'd correct your Ranger history. LOL

but I agree with you the same reason people put on and SVT badge.
I got a 4.0 so I put it on there.

People put saleen, steeda etc, but don't really compare to what one of those companies COULD have done with a Ranger.

I would disregard the truck or jsut pull up to him and say "hey beeeyotch wanna race?"

yeah, he was probably a ricer stuck in a truck and wanted to gain 50 hp by poppin on the GT badge...think nothing of it, besides he's an idiot.

theres a mustang in my town that has a GT-R badge on the back of his...apparently he has a mix of the Mustang Cobra R and the Nissan Skyline GT-R....hmmmm.....

Some joker at the local bar has a GT-R badge on a Dodge Ram. I'm pretty sure it's a base model V6 or something like that too w/ no significant mods. I always laugh when I see it..

I wouldn't rule it out (well, aside from the 24 valves part). Ford likes to have a "sporty" Ranger in the lineup. That is why the STX will be out in a couple of months. It's all looks though, no real function. That's all you can really expect though. No production Ranger has ever had a high output engine. The GT had the same 2.9L V6 as every other V6 Ranger of the time. In fact, the only functional upgrade was some beefing up of the suspension components I believe. It was still a nice package, but nothing special in the HP/TQ department. I think it is a little suprising that Ford doesn't throw the Whipple on some 3.0s from the factory. That would be a popular option. Ford already sells it in their performance parts catalog. I'm sure they have some reason for not doing it though...most likely money.

The thunderbolt had extra power, though not much.

I thought the Ranger from SEMA last year was a good set up. Supercharged 3.0 DOHC escape motor.

The new STX Ranger for 2005 will have an option for a dealer installed whipple supercharger for the 3.0L Vulcan. It will push the power up to 230 hp and 260 lb ft of torque. Also you can purchase a lowering kit that drops the front 2 inches and the rear 3 inches. Comes with two front coil springs, two rear mono leafs and new U bolts and shocks. Supposedly you can install the whipple in about 2 hours and no permanent mods to the truck or wiring.
