Ranger Hood Question

Has anyone ever put a 01-03 power dome hood on a 99 ranger?

does the hood fit any mods i have to do to the hood does the grille lines match up?

My hood has started to bubble up and rust and i wanted something different, but not too "street car" like.

i would appreciate any kind of help or opinions

It will fit, I have seen it done. 01-03 Power dome hoods will fit 98+ rangers

Beardja 07-08-2012 08:46 PM

the grill and every thing matches up good or would i have to change out the grill and headlights into the 01-03 style

It will line up. Even though they are different grille and lights, I believe its the same height

Yes everything will line up perfectly. I did it on my old 98.

Unrelated to the Powerdome, but your hood is rusting? I thought that 4th gen. hoods are aluminum. If that isn't correct, then when did the aluminum hoods come about?

As I said the paint is starting to bubble up and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that come before rust

You said in your original post that the paint has started to "bubble up and rust". Your hood is aluminum.

Got the powerdome hood on for a look before sending it to paint. The new Edge bumper and valance are sitting on the snug top.

Did you actually read the link it said " due to iron contamination in the aluminum" it rusted

There's no link in your original post. I had flaking paint on my hood for 3 years before I had it repainted, and it never rusted due to "iron contamination". You were wrong. Just accept it and move on.

Edit: And now that I see what you're talking about in the link, Morris's hood is steel, which is why it rusted.
