Ranger Mysterys
Ranger Mysterys
Hey I am having some kinda strange problems with my ranger, and I was hoping that somebody here may be able to point me in the right direction, before I spend a bunch of money having a shop look at it. First of all my truck is a '94 2wd 2.3l xlt, it has 31,000 miles on it, and sat for a while before I got it. The first problem is that the left turn signal tends to just stay solid on instead of flashing. Sometimes it works, but it usually just stays on solid. The other problem is that when I brake hard, the the abs and emergency brake light come on. When I stop braking the e-brake light will turn off, but the abs light will stay on. Thanks for any help you guys can offer me!
i have no clue..for some reason our gen rangers have wierd electrical problems..mine use to have the windhield wipers go on and occasionally spray randomly!....then i got another 95 ranger and now the abs light stays on and goes away and now its on all the time =/
I have a 1994 B3000...
For the blinkers, it soulds like you have either a dying fuse or a dying relay, check both.
For the brakes, as mentioned, go in an abandoned parking lot and try a suicide stop and it you feel the brake peddling pulsing, your brakes are OK and you don't need to worry too too much. Check and make sure your brake fuild is topped off and your drums are OK.
Our gen Rangers do have some weird problems, but not as bad as other cars.. My sister's bowtie Corsica's cassette player will slow down/speed up as your accellerate/brake... Rather odd, really.

Our F-650 rollback had the abs problem. What Ford told us is that the same sensor that they have been using for years on each wheel to detect lock up is the cause. If it gets dirty, wet, or it just happens to be its time of the month, it will light the ABS light up even though the system is still working fine.
I know, I was double loaded with a Suburban and king cab dually and had this (**(%&^^)*&( pullout in front of me and I was doing 55. Long story short, she got to go on her merry way and I had to change my pants and the seat covers!! Without ABS she would have been dead! I would have ended up going through her car like it was paper.
