1 dead in head-on wreck at Noland Road and Murkins Road

RAYTOWN, Mo. -

One person has died after two vehicles apparently struck each other head-on along Noland Road near Murkins Road on Saturday afternoon.

Police said they were called to the scene at about 1:30 p.m.

Witnesses told KMBC's Stephanie Ramos that a black pickup truck was traveling northbound along Noland Road and kept crossing over the center line.

The truck then struck a Toyota Camry head-on, witnesses said.

Police said the driver of the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck has been taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

There were no passengers in the vehicles.

The investigation into the wreck continues.

At first glance, it looks a lot like a ranger.

Sad to see. I wonder why the truck driver was crossing the line.

I would guess DUI, which is why he would still be alive and the other driver dead.

+1^
Always seem to work out that way. Extremely tragic, a good friend from high lost her dad and almost brother just like that.

well alcohol has a tendency to relax your muscles. Where as a sober person tends to tense up right before any kind of accident, someone who is intoxicated remains somewhat relaxed.

Which is why, most often in accidents resulting from a drunk driver, and another person, the drunk driver, more often than not either isnt dead, or not as badly injured.

However with that said, the other driver could have also been overly tired, or had a medical problem which caused the accident. Simply blaming it on alcohol when not all the facts have been released isnt 'right'.
