A rattle in my engine
A rattle in my engine
Hi guys I have a slight rattle in the engine. sounds like a wrist pin are these 2.3 eng. a pos or are they good. can any one give me some insite.

The Lima 2.0l/2.3l/2.5l engines are extremely reliable, electronics they added over the years is questionable, lol, but the engines are solid.
Could just be a bad accessory pulley, cold engine, remove fan belt start engine, you can run the engine for 2 or 3 minutes without water pump or alternator.
At this time also listen to the timing belt area, common thing to rattle if it has stretched.
2.3l Duratec engine seems to have a good rep but not as many miles on these yet.
It was designed for front wheel drive vehicles so there are some hard to get at parts when they are mounted in rangers, but so far so good.
If you buy a used vehicle it is hard to tell sometimes on how well it was maintained.
