Rebuilt Ranger Parts

The Ranger I bought at a wonderful price, had a bad transmission. It's 2wd 1995 XLT 4.0 with 127000 miles. Runs like a top. I bought a rebuilt tranny from a salvage yard and we put it in and drove it 15 miles home. Next day I backed out of the garage and it quit moving. Tryed driving ahead, went about 4ft and it quit moving. After spending 5 hours and shop time switching transmissions, I was a tad PO. The tranny came out again, last night and I took it to a reputable shop to diagnose the problem. The salvage yard agreed to get it checked out and see from there what route to take. I tell ya, when it comes to Transmissions and engine rebuilds, there are so many unskilled shaky so called mechanics out there, turning out questionable rebuilds, you got to watch where you buy. Here's a good example of 20/20 hindsight.

Same position here. Contemplating buy or rebuild mine. Looks straight forward on the rebuild but down time isn't favorable.

Agreed, hard to find a mech tech that's reputable and honest.
