I received this recall notice #17S01 regarding Airbag recall.
Can anyone give me some background and what to expect.

The airbag "ignitors" are known to shoot metal fragments and cause injury. Very old and drawn out problem that just seems to be getting resolved. Did you get the notice that parts are now available? If so just call up your local ford dealer, they will order the replacement parts for you truck and when they arrive they will give you a call back to set up an appointment for you to bring your truck in for the repair. Took them a few hours to do mine. If you just recieved the initial notice it usually means you need to wait for a second notice that the parts are available in your area. These airbag recalls effect millions of vehicles and not just fords so its been a slow process to get replacement parts.
