Cummins 4bt is the same as the Cummins 5.9 with 2 cylinders chopped off. They can make awesome power using the same parts as a 5.9 I6 cummins. Ya i don't like the bull hauler stacks but something about a diesel in a ranger...... Should i say it can get twice the MPGs as a V-8 with making big power?

Can't wait till tim gets his 6.0L swap done.

Amazingly, i havn't seen these yet! There was a bad *** 4bt powered, mid 90s ranger for sale a while back...and found vids of it....and was in love! That sucker was a bad *** wheeler! There was another ranger that was in Diesel Power or one of the other diesel mags, built for drag racing....with twin turbos and a bunch of other doodads, like a 07 front end.

Yea....a 4BT is the same as the first cummins in a dodge, the 6BT, but with 2 cylinders chopped off. Found in bread trucks mostly.

Exactly right. Same as the 12v. Diesel Power had a black ranger with a 12v in it and a Bronco with a 4bt in it making 400+hp.

I bet he replaces his IFS parts religiously. the 4bt is 735lbs dry.. thats a lot of weight up front and i didn't see a solid axle. Also.. stock 8.8 it looked like..

he must not be pushing that much power.. other wise he would be breaking all sorts of stuff. Im going to go ahead and guess that his frame isn't boxed either. .

The swap looked really good, but he must not be pushing much. Because a 4bt is a small very powerful diesel. Those stacks have to be for looks and not purpose. If they were needed his frame would look like a pretzel and hed have spent a million dollars on driveline parts.

I agree with you to a point. 8.8s are decently strong. I wouldn't count anything out unless i knew exactly what he did.

From the amount of smoke coming out of that thing the injection pump is definately turned up or at least the fuel plated is altered.

Stacks can be put in for both looks and purpose.

7.3s are awesome diesels. Capable of big power, uber reliable. REally their only downfall is that they are kind of loud. Have that diesel knock to them.

ok.. yeah 8.8s are strong. I agree. but a tuned 4bt making lots of power would destroy one. Probably be fine just for crusing around, but abuse it with that kind of torque?? NO way.

Of course the same holds for the front. i sure wouldnt use 4wd and the skinny pedal with that much torque.

Then again.. we have no idea what he really did or what he plans on doing.

common rail diesels. very easy to get power out of. I like the diesel sound too.. but its nice to have all the advantages and not hear it too.. Most people would rather have quiet.

looked like a 2wd from the front.. too much ground clearance to be 4x4 i think

Shoulda heard mine before i put the muffler back on it. It was just a big stack under the truck...no muffler...no cat. Loud as heck and got to be too annoying over time.

The 7.3L and 6.0Ls biggest downfall is the HEUI injection system. There are rumors it will be be getting shall we say "fixed." The new 6.4Ls have common-rail injection systems now and i'm hoping they start making BIG HP. One is already getting close to 500HP with tune only and exhaust.

lol.. Nice! We put a 3.5 down pipe to 4.5 straight pipe.. waaay too loud for me.

I hadn't even considered that it might be 2wd.. lol.. 2wd.. who does that?? lame.

would fix some things though.. some heavier coils would help with the weight. Easier fitment with no tcase.. makes sense all in all I guess.

reading the comments, he said that making the 4wd work was low on the priority list.
