Replacing a headliner

I am curious if anyone had redone their headliner themself. I took the headliner out of my ranger today. It looks aweful and is all torn up. The foam padding and the board is in good shape, the fabric is a different story. Is it better for me to have a pro replace the fabric or is it fairly simple to change?

Don't just buy plain old spray adhesive, it needs to be good stuff, they make headliner adhesive. Most adhesive can't resist gravity and eventually give out.

get the 3M "90" its industrial strength and probably wont be found in a auto parts store. Check home depot, lowes, or other hardware stores.

the stuff they sell at auto parts stores for headliners isnt strong enough

Will it hurt anything for me to leave some of the old headliner carpet on and put the new stuff over it. I was able to peel some of it off, but not all of it.

well, if you peeled some of it off, I would try and get it all off. reason being is that it will be lumpy if you dont. I would have just left all of it on and just covered it up, but its too late now
