Rhino Liner or Line-X , also over or under?
 

I'm looking to get a bed liner for two main reasons, to protect my bed from rust & misc. scratches, and prevent stuff from sliding around.

I do not do any heavy construction (IE: big pieces of concrete won't be thrown in), most of the stuff I will have in the bed would be light stuff, boards, bikes, coolers, etc.

I am also interested in getting a rolling soft-top at some point.

I got a quote from both Rhino Liner and Line-X and they are about $80 different, considering the liner will basically be there forever, the difference in price is nothing IMO.

So, should I go Rhino Lining? Line-X Lining? Under the rails? Over the rails? Remember, I want a rolling soft top later.

If it makes any difference, I have a white truck, and will be getting black liner.

Over the rail simply for added protection

Line-x over rhino b/c line-x seems to have a better reputation around my area.

Have a Line-X in not over rails truck had parts over side rail it is a Flareside so that being said it got rearended when I had some blocks in the bed, the impact pushed me forward into another vehicle the blocks slid forward in the bed and hit the front of it. Bent it a bit but the liner is fine in fact the body shop was pretty impressed with it. Now have to take it back to Line-X and have the bed bolts redone they get behind and there is a waiting list and I wanted the truck back.

Rhino over rails, I have seen both and like the look of Rhino far better then Line-x.

I have a Rhino under....I don't think you can go wrong with either. I just went with Rhino cause its a pretty well known name and I know the guy who owns the lining shop...so I got a pretty good deal. As far as Line-X, I know several people with them in everything from Rangers to F-150's. My buddy has the floor of hig buggy sprayed with Line-X. Never heard anyone complain about either.

after seeing both on trucks around here the line-x seems to be a bit thicker and rougher texture then the rhino. I myself am a Line-X man. Oh and over the rails for sure

(i thought i had a decent pic or two of the bed but i guess not. I'll try and get a couple of pics today or tomorrow, but you can atleast see the over the rail. I got the shorter one of the two options and i really think it looks better then when it gets sprayed to the second body line)

I went with the Rhino lining. Its a bit rougher than Line-X but it gives it character. I had to go over & quite a ways over because when I took the liner out I found lots of deep scratchs in the top of the bed. The guy who owned it before probably worked construction & the dealer that sold it to me threw a new liner in it to cover up all the dings & scratchs. The lining goes about as far over as the slip in over the top liner.

ahhh you guys and your over the rail. that stinks...i wanted to do that...but i have the plastic caps...and my bed isnt even steel......so im not too concerned about it lol

i did mine the way sean has his, you cant even see it with the tonnoue cover on expect on the tail gate, but the only reason my tailgate goes down so far is becase it had big scratchs i wanted to cover up...

if its a step sides i wouldnt go over rail if its a fleet side i would 100%

idk about Line-x it never seems that thick we had to cut the bolts out for the bed bolts on Grants ranger to do the body lift and the rhino from the metal to the top was well over 1/4" thick on the floor of it

well Price matters to me along with warranty and reputation and around here Line-X is king, plus it's 30 mins closer to me which is a bonus

I say under the rail Rhino. I have heard that Line-X will chip at times and I think it is thinner than Rhino.

I have rhino on one of my construction trucks and line-x in the other. After about a year the line-x truck lining busted out in big pieces. It was guaranteed for life though, so no worries. I favor the rhino lining though from personal experience. I think the line-x looks cooler.

I dunno, maybe it was just the tech's who applied it... :shrug:

I have rhino lining on my 96 ranger and line-x on 02. In my opinion Id go with the line-x it is much thicker and tougher. the rhino lining in my 96 has started peeling off. and is real hard to keep clean.

wow thats really really thin. did you say before you rolled yours on?

yea, thats only one 'covering' coat though, no need to protect whats not gonna get beat to help, its just there to cover up scratchs and to keep my tonnoue cover brackets off the paint... same with the side walls, those are 2 light coats so that i could have 3 heavy coats for the bottom...

I think both are good, in any case over the rail all the way. You'll only end up going back to get it done anyway.

BIG reason for going Line-X is the nationwide ANY dealer warranty. If my lining chips I can take it to any Line-X dealer to get fixed free.

Rhino will only guarantee for that particular dealer....not good if you are living 400 miles away....makes you wonder about their faith in all thier dealers too.

rhino i find to line better , but like bucky^ said line x is nationwide

There are TONS of people around here with various brands of bedliners. Line-X seems to have the best rep, and best durability. I know 2 guys with Rhino liners that absolutely hate them. They've chipped, discolored, etc. While some of the Line-X liners are almost 10 yrs old with no problems at all.

Regardless of brand, I recommend over the rail. It just protects the rails so much better !!!!!!!!!

well from all the other Rhino lined trucks i've seen my Line-X is much thicker and rougher texture. Both have the same type of texture but for example they have a less rough piece of sand paper (same texture, but just not as rough as the line-x)
