Right Place, Right Time
Hey guys. Just thought I'd share a story of my adventure this morning:
So I'm driving my Ranger with my girlfriend to school, and we pull off a highway exit about a half mile from the school. At the top of the exit, another Ranger is pulled over halfway to the side of the road with their emergency lights on. I pull up next to em and ask if they're okay. There were two girls from my school in there. They say they ran out of gas.
At that point I'm like "oh ****", because there's lots of worse-case scenarios that can go with that. School was to start in 10 minutes and they were stopped in a pretty dangerous place. We had our final exams, and it was pretty important that they be there. I offered to pull them around the corner to the breakdown lane, leave their truck for someone in their family to get, and give them a ride to school. So I back up about 10 feet in front of them and run the strap from their frame, do a few wraps around mine, and hook the other end back up to theirs so it was a makeshift harness I could guide them around the corner with. I told them to put it in neutral and they said "No! Then it will roll backwards!" I then taught them what an emergency brake was =P.
So they ask me right before we're about to move if there was anyway I could get the truck to the school, because nobody would be able to come deal with it and they couldn't leave it there. I figure they need to get to their exams, and I wanted a little challenge. So my girlfriend, who is amazing and pretty damn smart, guides them on when to use the e-brake and when to turn by shouting thru the back window of the cab. We had to make it through two stop lights, a stop sign, and a left turn lane....and hell we did :D I pulled them to the back of the parking lot and we all went in to take our exams, about 20 minutes late for school.
I know there's probably some criticisms coming my way, but I feel pretty damn good about it.

haha we told them what happened and the secretary started giving me hell about it being illegal. they suggested i'd called a tow company.
funny thing is, it was raining all morning and the ground was soaked. i was dripping wet from climbing around under our trucks, so my teacher didn't even ask when i got to her class haha.
and we all got to take our exams :)

I towed a Chevy 2500 about a mile to his house after it died in the middle of of an intersection. I mean literally the middle of the intersection, traffic had to go around him.
When I got to his house, he gave me $20 and said "wow thats kindof embarrasing your little ford pulling my big chevy" I just responded "yeah shes got a lot of power in a little package."

Years ago I was home from college and went wheeling with one of my buddies in his brand new TRD Taco, I was in my 86 FSB. Well he managed to get stuck numerous times, so I pulled him out numerous times. Well towards the end of the day his tranny started acting up. Wasn't shifting, was overheating, spilling fluid out. So I had to tow him back to his house with my tow strap. Well we were a good 30 mins away from his house. At least his truck still ran so he could brake. I was getting passed by school buses. I have pictures, but thats before everyone had a digital camera. I'll try and get them scanned. F'en hilarious. I believe I recall one of the pics someone wrote in the mud on the truck like only 5,000 miles.
