???'s on airbox
???'s on airbox
im thinking of doing the airbox mod... is there anything that i really need to worry about? or is this mod side effect free. (i need something to prove to my dad that it shouldn't mess up anything.
^^ better airflow...
theres really no negative side effects except your trucks a little louder... and its fully reversible in like 10 seconds if you decide you dont wanna do it any more...

Depends on how extreme. Basic mod is just removing the "snorkel" which is designed to muffle intake noise. It leaves a bigger intake hole, and allows intake noise, which sounds cool.
You can also remove more of the airbox by cutting away or drilling out parts of the lower part. I have 1" holes bored all throughout the lower section of mine so that there is air intake higher up on it. They are there front, sides, and back.
Although this may allow more warm air from the engine compartment in, it also allows the airbox to survive water crossings better without getting jammed up with water. With only a single intake hole, low down, in the front, the possibility for ingesting a large slug of water is higher. Now, if that hole is underwater, I have a number of holes higher up and on different faces of the box that are still above water -- maybe, lol.

Ha ha! Wait until you see Jay Deitrich (BlazedB2) hydro lock in the hole where Doc got stuck. I kid you not. He had to take the spark plugs out to get running again.
