shifting

i have a 2002 ranger XLT 4x4 5sp, if i dont let the truck a few min. shifting into 2 can take some strength to complete. all other gears are fine, just that one is the hardest. even when its around 60 outside its a little tuff..? any ideas?

You should try talking to 2nd gear...maybe try convincing her why you should be shifting into her..
If you make a valid point I don't see why she wouldn't let you in

Haha..then u gotta yell at it.

All jokes aside..my 08 does the same thing...it's not really 'hard' to shift to 2nd..just not as smooth as the other gears. Have you changed out the tranny fluid?? I did but it didn't make too much a dif. Just learned to deal with it..I don't think it's anything too serious. Probably more crappy ford engineering.

All other gears are fine? If any of the other gears do it I'd start with checking the clutch hydraulic fluid under hood. Check fluid in trans, if it's Ok. Then it's either an issue with the top cover or synchro.
